You never believe in promises
I once asked you to always have hope
You said you would, but ne'er promised;
Said it would only hurt what you have left
Is it freedom? Is it the freedom you've been guarding?

You said promises are meant to be broken
Though please, promise me your love
And try not to break it like it were an item
Only, take me not as a soulless thing
Take me like I am a fragile rose in your pocket

You once told me how forever can still be
Even when we don't do pinky swears;
Even when you weren't certain for the uncertainties,
You never failed to keep a strong grip
Hence the string that's been holding us today

I used to say "I promise, I promise."
Though now, I can see us on the other side
All because you showed me consistency
You made me believe in invisibility
The invisible tightrope that led us forward

You said promises are illusive
They keep us hoping and expecting for fantasies
Well I say you've been saying it all along
You've been keeping them dear,
Dropped it at times, but took care of it like a fragile rose in your pocket
