The golden light of the Bifrost shimmered around Y/N. Thor stood proudly beside her, his golden hair catching the afternoon sun. It had been centuries since Y/N roamed the Earth freely—her time as Queen of the Underworld, Hades' wife, had changed her. Formerly known as Persephone, Y/N now stepped onto the lush green grounds of Avengers Compound. The call of the mortal world always pulled her back, especially after her long conversations with Thor about his world's champions.
"It's different than you remember," Thor said with a grin, his deep voice rumbling. "But I think you'll fit right in. You always had a knack for...adjusting."
Y/N smiled softly, the corners of her lips curling with amusement. "It's strange being back here, Thor. I feel...lighter." She inhaled deeply, savoring the freshness of Earth's air compared to the dark, humid caverns of the Underworld.
"That's because you're free from him now," Thor chuckled, referring to Hades with a playful roll of his eyes. He clapped a hand on Y/N's shoulder. "And there are people you should meet. The team."
Y/N adjusted the soft material of her white dress, its simplicity a stark contrast to the regal gowns she once wore as Persephone, Queen of the Underworld. "You mean the Avengers?" she asked, her eyes glinting with a mix of curiosity and skepticism. She had heard stories of them, a group of mortals with extraordinary powers, saving the world time and time again.
Thor nodded. "They're...a peculiar bunch, but you'll find them entertaining."
Y/N had never been part of a team. She had spent eons commanding the respect of ancient beings, gods, and the dead, but this was different. There was a strange appeal to it—a new beginning, perhaps. "Lead the way," she said, flashing a playful grin at Thor.
As they entered the compound, Y/N couldn't help but marvel at the strange mix of advanced technology and homey warmth. The compound felt like a place where legends were forged. Yet beneath the metal walls, there was a sense of family.
"Thor!" A voice called out. Steve Rogers, Captain America himself, greeted them with a warm handshake, his eyes curious as they flicked toward Y/N. "Who's your friend?"
"She now goes by Y/N," Thor said, stepping aside to introduce her. "But you may know her by her former name: Persephone."
There was a moment of silence before Steve offered a smile. "Wow, what a pleasure ma'am. I know you from the history books."
Y/N tilted her head. "Well, I hope I live up to the expectations of your books."
"Undoubably," Steve replied with a teasing grin, making Y/N laugh.
But then Y/N felt something. A strange shift in the atmosphere. She turned to see a woman leaning against a wall, arms crossed, her sharp eyes trained on her. Y/N could sense the power that radiated from her, a kind of magic different from her own but still potent. There was something about her presence—dark and stormy, yet quietly controlled. But what struck Y/N the most was the coldness in the woman's gaze.
