_ILHAM_

The whole scene in front of me was shocking me. I have no idea why they are arresting Khalil, and I totally have no idea what he did.
"You're under arrest." One of them said, after putting the handcuffs on him. I frowned.

"I'm sorry officer, I think you have gotten the wrong person." I said. My voice a little bit shaky.

"We know we are arresting Gen.Khalil. And he's been accused of killing the commander general, Mubarak." Another different officer spoke. Killing?? I do know Khalil always threatens to kill people but he would never actually do that.

"You are really mistaken officer." I said trying to explain to them that Khalil has most definitely not done it, but all in vain.

"Commander general Mubarak, was killed yesterday night and we have verbal evidence of your husband being the killer." They said.

Yesterday night, Khalil was not in this house. In fact, I just woke up and saw him around fajr time. So where was he? I was in my own pool of doubts when Khalil's words struck me.
"I did not do it." He said to me in particular, his hand managing to pull out a phone from his pockets as he passed it to me.

I collected the phone and examined it, feeling my eyes get a little bit wet. And then he got dragged away right in front of me and I could not do anything. Nothing at all.

I did not know wether to call up our parents and tell them, because telling them will only make them worry. After minutes of thinking, I decided it's best to call Khalil's parent and tell them, the influence his family has might be able to get him out of this.

I quickly used my phone to dial his mother's number, silent tears streaming down my face. When she picked up, I told her everything.

Khalil got arrested

And they were saying he killed Mubarak

They took him away.

I am so scared, I do not know what they are going to do to him.

I was rambling and stumbling on my words as I spoke to her and she told me to calm down, if only I could. A few minutes later, they were all at our house including my own parents. Khalil's father was making calls upon calls and when he finally got the police station Khalil was at, he immediately left to the place alone.

I feel frightened as I sit beside my mother. My tears still falling, I might have been the cause of this. If he did not have to go to repair my phone then maybe he would not have been among the suspects. I sobbed even more.

We were all just sat there, waiting and waiting for Khalil's father to return, with him. After many hours, the house door was forcibly opened and we all stood up thinking of it to be Muhsin coming back with Khalil only for Kamil to appear together with Aunt Waleeda and their three children with them. Their face obviously worried, I could only wonder who told them.

As expected, Kamil began shouting because no one cared to inform him just because he was outside the country and he had to see it in the news and then he flew straight back.

Aunt Waleeda tried to calm the man down that would not stop shouting, and then his mother informed him that his father went to the place where his brother was held, but she didn't know the place too. Kamil just pulled out his phone and went to search for the place.

Aunt Waleeda came to my side and simply hugged me for seconds, minutes, I don't even know.
"I know you're scared for him." She whispered, trying to be comforting. I nodded because in reality, even if I have no feelings for him, my humanity will never not allow me to care.

"It's okay to be sad when someone we love—"
She continued,

"I don't love him. I do not." Came my low voice that has sensed our due to crying too much. Aunt Waleeda smiled, and nodded with a "Hmmm." hum.

"It's pretty hard not to like any of these brothers once you've married them." She said.

I exhaled a breath, my eyes looking at Manal that is quietly sitting beside her grandmother while Imran and Iman were playing around.
"You will soon realize that." She added, releasing me from the hug with a brief smile.

She stayed for a few more hours before leaving with her kids, my mother left shortly after leaving only me with Khadijah. We made prayed and made dinner together, then quietly sat and ate.

We continued waiting, muttering prayers while we wait. But even when it was almost midnight, we still did not see any sign of anyone returning. I noticed my mother-in-law getting tired and I knew she wanted to leave too but she is just staying because of me.

I told her she could leave, after a lot of mild protest from her, she finally agreed and called her driver for that. I continued the wait alone in the living room, I laid on the longest couch there and did not know when I fell asleep.
