I'm

When I walked into school I wasn't waiting to see Logan's smiling face like usual. Because I knew. I knew it from the minute I got his number at the library. He didn't want to be my friend. He used me.

I don't really know what for, people just said it all the time when I was little before they stopped playing with me at recess, and then in middle school distanced themselves from me in advisory.

When I started playing baseball for a team that all went away.

I knew I shouldn't have let my guard down like that. I shouldn't have trusted him.

Even though I didn't expect to see him at school, I was sort of surprised to see his empty seat in first hour.

In the middle of Mr Thomas' class, still first hour, he walked in.

He looks horrible. Eyebags, messy hair, missing his glasses, shirt isn't tucked in like usual. In fact, he's not even dressed like usual.

Today he has on sweatpants and an oversized crew neck that don't match, like something he'd wear to bed at the sleepovers. His crew neck is wrinkled, though. Even at sleepovers he looks neat somehow.

The group looks at him like he's a ghost, which is what it'd seem like after GHOSTING us the whole break.

I can hear kids whispering. About his looks. About his whereabouts. About random rumors people who don't even know him made up. I want to defend him, but then I remember the text I sent and look back down at my desk.

Our desks are in a circle, so without speaking everybody scoots their desks to make room for him. He drags his desk over tiredly and sits down.

"Uhm... So how was everyone's break..? Mine was good..." Taylor mutters.

"It was alright!" Aiden immediately and loudly replies. He gets on my nerves alot.

"Fine." Me and Ashlyn both say, her glaring at me afterwards.

Ben nods silently to signal it was good, then everyone stares at Logan. Realizing he wasn't going to reply and wasn't even listening, everyone silently looks away again. I grumbled to myself. He doesn't need to be rude to my sister if HE ignored US.

Everyone awkwardly sits in silence before Ashlyn groans. "Okay, I cant." She sharply began. Ashlyn pointed a finger at Logan. "YOU."

"Why did you ignore us all break?!"

Logan stared at her, then shrugged, making a small "mh." He began tracing circles on it with his finger.

Ashlyn rolls her eyes. "Is that all you have to say? 'Mh'? God you piss me off." She mumbles. I don't defend him this time. I think Taylor expected me to. He just keeps tracing circles.

The bell rings and everyone gets up and leaves. By the time I'm leaving the class Logan is just now getting up.

He doesn't sit with us at lunch. At first Ashlyns making inquries that he replaced us, but we cant find him anywhere. Taylor comes back from the bathroom and sits down. "I found him," She says, picking up her fork.

"Where?" Aiden asks.

"He was in his next class, just sitting in there waiting."

"Is he gonna eat?" Ben signs.

She shrugs in reply and puts a piece of food in her mouth.

I walk past the lab. I tell everyone I'm just getting my stuff from my locker early so I can get to class fast, which isn't really a lie. Sure enough, he's in there.

And sure enough, my legs plot a new route.

I stand by his desk with my arms crossed. "Why didn't you-"

"I wasn't supposed to be on my phone." He said.

I stand there, still very irritated. "Then why'd you read my text."

"I saw it was from you."

"Why weren't you supposed to be on your phone."

"I was on watch."

Watch? I have no clue what he means by that. We don't live THAT far away, so a tornado watch or something is out of question. I don't think he was watching something.

The bell rings. I stomp away, not bothering to dig further.

Not bothering to talk to him ever again.
