I go on a rant about reasons why I hate Colleen Hoover. I didn't make up any of these reasons. I just repeat what I've heard him say a lot.

He smiles and listens, laughing every once in a while and wiping his glassy eyes.

Logan's smile fades after a minute and he opens his book again.

I silently watch him blink his tears away. I don't force him to talk. I wouldn't even know what to say if he did.

Instead I hop down from the spot and grab a book off the shelf, then sit back down.

'How To Stay Invisible, Maggie C. Rudd'

I keep trying to look at the pages.

'At 4:36'

I glance at him.

'River Mill Middle School'

I glance at him again.

'Apart from the school's'

I hear him move across from me but don't look up from the book so it doesn't seem like I've been impatiently waiting for him to say something.

He shuffles over next to me and opens his book again.

'The only other students'

After a couple minutes of spacing out while staring at the same page I feel the weight of his head on my shoulder.

I reach an arm over and lay a hand on his head.

'the front office secretary'

I feel him shake and set my book down. I turn to face him and pull him close.

I hold him as he silently sobs into my shoulder. I rub his back and whisper apologies to him, over and over.

Eventually he stops crying and just lays in the crook of my neck.

And eventually he yawns and closes his eyes.

The library closes in a few hours.

We've got time.
