Taehyung sat at the head of the long oak table in the Eunoia clan's main hall, his brow furrowed as he listened to the reports from his advisors. Despite his best efforts to focus, his mind kept wandering back to the hospital visit and the strange feelings that had arisen during the encounter with Jungkook.
There was something about the omega that unsettled him, in a way he had never experienced before. It wasn't discomfort, though. It was something deeper, something primal. Taehyung had always been able to control his emotions, to keep his instincts in check, but ever since that day, he found himself thinking about Jungkook far more than he should.
"Taehyung?"
Namjoon's voice pulled him from his thoughts, and Taehyung blinked, realizing he had completely lost track of the conversation.
"I'm sorry, Namjoon. What were you saying?"
Namjoon, his most trusted advisor and childhood friend, raised an eyebrow but didn't comment on Taehyung's distraction. "I was saying that we've received word from the outer villages. The crops are flourishing, and the healers say it's thanks to your influence on the natural world."
Taehyung nodded, though he still felt a strange unease. "That's good to hear."
As the meeting continued, Taehyung struggled to focus. The bond he had felt with Jungkook at the hospital—it had been fleeting, but powerful. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to it, something he needed to understand.
When the meeting finally concluded, Taehyung lingered behind as the others filed out. Namjoon, ever perceptive, stayed by his side.
"You've been distracted lately," Namjoon said, his tone gentle but firm.
Taehyung sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know what it is, Namjoon. Something's bothering me, and I can't make sense of it."
Namjoon studied him for a moment before speaking. "Does it have to do with Jungkook?"
Taehyung's eyes flicked to Namjoon in surprise. "How did you—"
"I know you, Taehyung. You've been distant ever since you visited the hospital. You've never been one to get distracted easily, especially when it comes to matters of the clan."
Taehyung hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. He trusted Namjoon more than anyone, but even he wasn't sure how to explain what he was feeling.
"I don't know," Taehyung admitted, his voice low. "It's strange. I've only met him once, but...I feel something. Something I've never felt before."
Namjoon's expression softened. "You think he might be your fated mate?"
Taehyung stiffened at the words, the truth he had been avoiding suddenly laid bare.
"I don't know," Taehyung said quietly. "But it feels like there's something there. Something...important."
Namjoon placed a reassuring hand on Taehyung's shoulder. "If you are fated mates, then the bond will reveal itself in time. You can't fight destiny, Taehyung. It's better to let things unfold as they're meant to."
Taehyung nodded, though his mind was still in turmoil. Could it really be true? Could Jungkook be his fated mate?
And if so...what did that mean for everything else? For Jennie, for his son, for the future of the clan?
