As the days passed, the truth about Jennie's deception began to weigh more heavily on Taehyung. The child—whom he had believed was his—was not his blood, and Jennie's manipulation had cast a shadow over everything. But despite the pain of the betrayal, Taehyung's focus remained on one thing: protecting his clan and his fated mate.
Jungkook, too, had become an integral part of Taehyung's life. The bond between them grew stronger with each passing day, and the omega's presence brought Taehyung a sense of calm he hadn't felt in years. Together, they were beginning to plan for their future, even as the shadows of Jennie's lies loomed large.
But Jungkook wasn't content to let Jennie's deceit go unchallenged. He had always been kind and compassionate, but there was a strength in him that few had ever seen. And now, that strength was focused on uncovering the full extent of Jennie's betrayal.
One evening, while Taehyung was meeting with the council, Jungkook set out on his own investigation. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Jennie's lies than they had uncovered. If the child wasn't Taehyung's, then whose was he? And why had Jennie gone to such lengths to deceive them?
Jungkook made his way to Jennie's quarters, his mind racing with questions. As the clan's healer, he had access to records that most others didn't, and he planned to use that knowledge to his advantage.
When he arrived at Jennie's chambers, he found her sitting alone, staring out the window. She didn't notice him at first, lost in her own thoughts. But when she finally turned to face him, her expression was one of cold indifference.
"What do you want, Jungkook?" she asked, her voice sharp.
"I want the truth," Jungkook replied, his tone firm. "About the child."
Jennie's eyes flickered with something—fear, perhaps?—but she quickly masked it. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Yes, you do," Jungkook said, stepping closer. "You lied to Taehyung. You made him believe the child was his, but he's not. So, I'm asking you: who is the father?"
Jennie's lips curled into a bitter smile. "It doesn't matter. Taehyung accepted him as his own, and that's all that matters."
Jungkook's jaw clenched. "It does matter. You used that child to manipulate Taehyung, and you put the entire clan at risk. Now tell me the truth."
For a moment, Jennie hesitated, her icy facade cracking just slightly. Then, with a sigh, she spoke.
"The child's father...was a rogue alpha. Someone I met outside the clan."
Jungkook's heart sank. A rogue alpha? That would explain why the child didn't carry any of Taehyung's magical signature. But it also raised more questions—why had Jennie chosen to deceive Taehyung, of all people? What had she hoped to gain?
"You lied to protect yourself," Jungkook said quietly. "But in doing so, you've hurt so many others."
Jennie's eyes narrowed. "You think you're so much better than me, don't you? Just because you're Taehyung's fated mate."
"I don't think I'm better than you," Jungkook replied, his voice calm but firm. "But I do think that you've made a terrible mistake, and it's time for you to face the consequences."
Jennie's gaze hardened, but she said nothing. She knew, as well as Jungkook did, that her time was running out.
