It has been a month since I saw Shawn last time and I miss him. This is the longest we have gone without seeing each other. Luckily, this weekend I can distract myself because I am throwing my birthday party, I am turning 23 and I am so excited. I invited Aaliyah and Maria from Toronto, so they will be staying with my sister and me in our apartment.
"Will you come with me to pick up the girls?" I ask Mathilda, I promised to pick Aaliyah and Maria up from the airport. Mathilda nods and she drives to the airport, honestly, I am a typical girl driver, I am so bad at driving but to be fair no one has ever gotten hurt. "Oh my god" I hear Maria before I even spot her, she runs up to me and hugs me and goes to introduce herself to my sister, "what did you do to Aaliyah?" I ask. "Oh there was a major line for the bathrooms so I said I would wait out here," Maria says and I nod. "There you are," I say as I see Aaliyah and hug her "I missed you bestie" Aaliyah says, "I missed you too," I say. She too introduces herself to my sister and we are off.
Aaliyah and Maria are going to help me prep for the birthday, but I am almost done. Honestly, I love hosting, my friends have told me that I am the best host they have ever had, and that none of them wants to throw a party after mine. Tomorrow is a girl's night only, so even if Shawn was able to be here he could not participate, even though I miss him.

Tomorrow comes around faster than I was ready for, but today will probably be my last birthday here in Denmark. We are four girls having to get ready in a small bathroom so we have to start getting ready early. Soon the guests start arriving, my theme today is glitter, so I expect everyone to go all out with the theme.
"Hiii thank you for coming" I greet all of the girls as they arrive. "Welcome everyone and thank you guys so much for coming" I say as I start my welcome toast, "so I thought I would start by introducing everyone here, so my all-time best friend Emma is here" I say pointing at her and she waves. "Also my best friends from university Sophia, Emily, Sarah, Hannah and Klara" I say pointing at them and they all wave. "So I have brought some friends from Toronto, this is Maria my former host mother" I say putting my arm around her and she waves "also I have brought Aaliyah, who is Shawn's sister" I say pointing at her and she waves. "And last but not least my lovely sister Mathilda, you all know her," I say and everyone laughs. "With that I would just like to say thank you all for the gifts and please take a seat, dinner will be served shortly" I end and they all clap and cheer.
We drink a lot of wine, and having been sitting in my small apartment, we all agreed we should go out clubbing, so I can spend my real birthday being hungover. Through the night, we visit a couple of different bars, we all sit down and drink some beers and talk, and we dance on both the floor and the tables.
Soon the clock strikes 4 am, we are all getting tired. "Are you guys ready to go home?" I ask Aaliyah, Maria and Mathilda, they all nod. We say our goodbyes to the rest of the group, they're all going home now as well.

I wake up at 8 am, I cannot sleep when I am hungover. I lay in bed just waiting for the others to wake, so we can all bring our comforters into the Livingroom and just watch movies. They all start waking up except Mathilda, of course she can sleep at any moment and anywhere. The rest of us just bring our comforters into the Livingroom and start watching movies. Soon Mathilda wakes up, and joins us, I check my Instagram to see some posts for my birthday.

Soon I get a phone call from Shawn so I walk into another room. "Happy birthday darling" he says softly and I instantly start crying. "Hey hey hey what's wrong?" he asks, "I... I just miss you," I say between sobs.
We talk for a while "I heard you have no lectures all December and half of November, you should come and spend December in Toronto with me, there is loads of snow here" he says knowing I love snow in the winter, something we unfortunately don't have here anymore. "Deal... but I have to read and get ready for my finals too" I say "I will get Andrew to book the plane tickets right away" I laugh. "Love you darling, and have a happy birthday" he says and my heart melts "love you too... see you soon" we hang up and I walk into the Livingroom to the others again.
