Chapter 3

Divination held no enjoyment for Alexis, she smiled from time to time at the boys' comments but she could feel Harry's fury like a hot poker in her mind. She had to find a way to break the connection. She couldn't take it anymore. As soon as Divination ended she told the boys she needed to see Professor Snape before Defense Against the Dark Arts started.

"We'll walk with you if you don't mind," Mattheo said looking around at the other boys.

"Yeah, it's on the way so it's not a big deal," Enzo agreed.

Alexis smiled as they all walked to Snape's classroom. She could feel the sharp pain in her head growing as Harry's anger seemed to grow. They finally arrived at Snape's class and Alexis went to his office door knocking nervously. The door flew open as Snape towered over her.

"What is it?"

"I need to talk to you, please."

Snape stepped aside to let her in as the boys tried to follow.

"Alone," she said to the boys stopping them in their tracks.

Snape closed his door and waited for her to speak.

"You know about my... bond with Harry?" she waited for Snape to nod before continuing, "It's affecting me, I feel his moods, I dream his nightmares. Right now I can feel his anger stabbing into my mind. I need it to stop before it pushes me too far. Please Professor, is there any way to dull the bond?"

"Yes, but it won't be easy. It will test you and push your mind to its limits. But I believe you are capable of being extraordinary and I'd hate to see Potter drag you down. Meet me here after supper and I will teach you how to break the bond."

"Thank you, sir."

As Snape opened his door all the boys fell inside the office. Looking up at Snape's glaring face.

"Get to class now or I will take 10 points from Slytherin, each."

The students all scrambled to get to DADA as they could feel Snape's eyes as they left. They walked in silence for a short time before Enzo couldn't contain himself any longer.

"What bond do you have with Potter?"

Mattheo and Theo both smacked the back of his head giving him a look. Alexis didn't answer right away.

"It's complicated, I'm not supposed to talk about it. Snape already knew that's why I trusted him. All I can say is we are too in tune with each other and our emotions can blur at times I guess."

They all entered class just before it started and Mattheo pulled Alexis into the chair next to him. The students were playing with a magic paper bird. Which burned and fell as Professor Umbridge entered the room.

The Professor launched into another long-winded speech about how lax the school had become and a return to basics was what everyone needed. She told everyone to read and that talking wouldn't be necessary.

"Exhausting old bat isn't she," Mattheo whispered to Alexis. She let out a squeak as she couldn't hold the laugh in completely. Smacking Mattheo as the professor turned on her.

"Something to add Miss?"

"Black, ma'am, and no. Mr. Riddle and I were just talking about how excited we are for your changes to the class. I mean who needs to learn how to use spells? Especially at a school that teaches magic."

Her new friends snickered around her as Umbridge closed in. "Are you going to be a problem in this class, Miss Black?"

"Of course not ma'am, I'm an exemplary student with a fantastic record," she said giving her sweetest smile.
