It was the first day and I had already embarrassed myself in front of someone. I facepalmed as I walked into class late and gave the teacher my blue pass and walked straight to the back of the class, avoiding everyone's odd looks. I sat down next to a beautiful blonde-haired girl who had the same eyes as the boy who I had just seen. They both looked similar to each other, the hair color, the eyes, and maybe the nose. I waved gently at her and she gave me a soft smile back. The teacher, whose name was Mrs. Williams, walked to my seat and gave me a lesson plan for this week. Reading over it I realized I had learned all this stuff two years ago and decided to pull out my computer and begin researching more colleges. The girl, who seemed to be very bored, watched me as I typed, she then tapped me on the arm. "You're deaf?" she signed, my jaw dropped. Not many people knew sign language since there were not many people like me. She laughed, "I took it as my foreign language back at my old school in Alaska with the rest of my family. I'm Rosalie Hale by the way." she signed. I just sat there looking like a fish out of water for a moment then shook my head, "Emerson." I signed back. Rosalie nodded, "So have you learned this already?" she asked and I nodded, "Two years ago. I could've graduated last year but I still haven't found a college yet so I decided to stay in school." I signed as she nodded. "I would love to get out of here honestly, it's like I've learned this a thousand times," she signed before laughing again. "Can I see your schedule?" she questioned and I nodded, handing it to her. Rosalie shook her head, "It looks like you have one of my family members every period." she signed. I smiled, "Well if they are as nice as you, I shouldn't have a problem and hey at least I'll be able to communicate with someone instead of staring at a wall the whole time." I signed laughing a bit.

The bell flashed signaling class was over and I walked out with Rosalie, "You have class with my boyfriend, Emmett next." she signed and I nodded. Suddenly there was a tall man spinning Rose around as she laughed, I gathered this was Emmett. When he set her back on the ground, kissing her forehead, she introduced us. "Emmett this is Emerson, Emerson this is Emmett." she signed as we both waved at each other. "She has AP English with you. Well I gotta go, I'll see you at lunch?" she signed as I nodded and waved goodbye. I turned to Emmett who jerked his head in the opposite direction Rose went. "You and Rose make a cute couple." I signed smiling. Emmett smiled, "It's even better that we live together. My father adopted all of us and he's kind of the best matchmaker ever." he signed. I awed at the fact that they get to see each other every day, "I wish I had something like that, but no one wants a deaf girl." I signed looking down at the ground. Emmett gently nudged me, "Hey now squirt, cheer up, someone will come along and it may be sooner than you think." he signed winking, as we entered Mrs. Suit's classroom. Emmett and I walked to the back as I handed her my slip and took the lesson plans, and yet again I had already learned them. "So tell me more about this matchmaking family you have." I signed as we sat down. Emmett chuckled, "Well it's me, Rose, Alice, and Edward. My brother Jasper is the lone wolf along with Camden." he signed, his expression sad. I wondered why but I didn't want to be rude and ask, "So tell me about Alaska." I signed. "Rose told you? Yeah it was okay but I've never liked the snow that much but, I do love the wildlife." he signed, smirking as if hiding a joke. I shook my head and continued to talk with him about many things. His family where they grew up and more about his siblings.

Emmett bounced his foot against my chair as I shoved it off, playfully glaring at him, "Stop." I signed and Emmett shook his head, "So what about you. I haven't seen you around here before." he asked. "Well that's because I've been homeschooled since I was little, I was bullied a lot so my parents pulled me out." I signed. Emmett looked slightly upset at the fact that I had just told him, "I finally convinced my parents that it was time to let me leave the nest a little before I leave for college if I even go." I signed. Emmett nodded as he began to pay attention to the lesson and my mind wandered off to the boy I ran into in the hallway. His eyes held something I just didn't know what. I continued to ponder on it until the bell flashed and Emmett nudged me, "You okay?" he questioned. I nodded and began walking to my next class AP French, with Emmett giving me directions before I walked in the complete wrong direction.
