The Broken One

Chapter 9

     A couple of days had passed and things had calmed down, Jasper had gone out hunting with his brothers for three nights and he should be home today at some point. Water sprayed from the hose as I washed my car. A pebble hit my head gently, I rubbed it gently. I looked up from where it came from and saw Jasper perched on the roof, I laughed as I shook my head. Jasper jumped down next to me, ¨You do realize I have neighbors right?" I questioned him as he nodded smirking. ¨You still coming over?" he asked as I nodded. Dad walked outside, getting ready to leave for work and waved to Jasper, smiling sadly. He was having a hard time with Waylon's death. Jasper waved back as his eyes hardened, ̈What is it?¨ I questioned. Jasper shook his head and kissed my forehead, ¨Complication.¨ he signed as he walked and got into his car. Just then a black car came into view, Rachel and Jacob with their father Billy, whose expression is intense and anxious. Jasper locked eyes with Billy as they looked at him questioningly. I watched Jasper drive away, perplexed by the exchange. I forced a smile and went to greet the Black family along with my mother who had come outside.

     Jacob got out of the car and set up Billy's wheelchair and Billy climbed into it. Mom and Billy talk as Jacob and Rachel come to talk to me. "Come to visit the jeep?" I questioned smiling. Jacob shook his head, "Actually, we came to visit your flat screen. Rach tells me you're good at video games, said something about beating a pro who has played for 7 years." he signed back as I nodded. I showed them into the house while Billy and my Mom sat in the kitchen talking about something I guess. I walked up the stairs and into my bathroom, pulling a key out from under the sink. They both looked at me confused as I laughed and inserted the key into a door. "This room is locked because it's so valuable and it's my favorite room in the house." I signed as I turned the knob and pushed open the door. Both of their jaws dropped as they looked around at the bookcases filled with gaming CD"s. "Homeschooling has its perks." Rachel signed walking further into the room. I walked past Jacob hitting him upside the head, giggling as he snapped out of it. Hours passed with the three of us playing games. I looked up at the clock and bottled up and went into my room. Rachel ran after me, "You good?" she signed. I nodded as I tried to put on a new shirt but got tangled. Rachel laughed and I glared at her, giving her the finger. She laughed harder as I finally got the shirt on. "Yes. I'm fine, Jasper is coming to pick me up right about-" I signed but my mom interrupted me, "Jasper is here." she signed, "Now." I signed laughing.

     I rushed down the stairs but stopped when Billy looked at me, "Have you heard anything on the Waylon case?" he questioned. My heart cracked at the mention of it, "Not really, um Chief Swan said they found a footprint at a crime scene earlier today. Like a human footprint." I signed as he nodded. "A person did that?" he questioned, seeming distributed but not surprised, as for me I was horrified. Jacob butted into the conversation, "A crazy person, walking around barefoot this time of year." he signed. I nodded, "The Chief knew you would be coming over later so asked me to tell you to keep the kids out of the woods." I signed as Mom opened the door and Jasper went rigid. Billy looked from Jasper to me, "Will do. Don't want no one else getting hurt." he signed looking directly at me. I looked away from Billy unnerved and grabbed my phone walking to Jasper. We walked to the car as I shivered, he turned up the heat when the car started. My brows furrowed together, "I wonder what he meant by all that." I thought.

     When Jasper and I arrived, Cam and Bella had just pulled up behind us. I looked at Jasper confused, "Double date?" I questioned. Jasper rolled his eyes, "More like a family date." he signed, sighing. I giggled and got out of the car, walking over to hug Bella. "I have to talk to you later about something." she signed to me. I searched her eyes to see if I could figure out what, "About Billy?" I questioned. She nodded as we walked inside, "Well at least I'm not the only one." I thought as Edward looked at me puzzled. Immediately I started screaming Hannah Montana lyrics loudly in my head, he grimaced. "Stay out of my head Eddy." I thought and he rolled his eyes and sat down next to Alice. Bella was last to sit down, next to Jasper. His body went stiff, I rubbed my thumb over his hand as it eases him. Jasper is still new to the diet, being that close to someone who's not his mate drives him up the wall a bit. We all talked for a bit when a thought dawned on me, "Jasper I've never seen your room." I signed and he nodded, "Well would you like to?" he questioned and I nodded. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Rose hit Emmett upside the head as Jasper and I headed upstairs. I entered to find hardwood walls, filled with bookshelves and a balcony. There were maps and old looking papers littered around, books both closed and opened everywhere you looked. I smiled, "I love it." I signed to him.

     Jasper smiled as he rushed around and cleaned up his room, "When you're a vampire cleaning is no problem." he signed as he wrapped his arms around my waist, tugging me down on top of his bed. I wiggled and squirmed as he began to tickle me. He stopped when I had to gasp for breath. He cupped my cheek as I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him closer. Our lips met and I melted into him, I was hungry and only he could feed my beast. I tangled my hand in his hair as I pulled him closer. Jasper sat up, hosting me up as he kissed my exposed chest. I threw my head back holding back a moan as he nipped and sucked at my skin. I felt him growl against my chest, causing me to buck my hips into his. Jasper's grip on my waist tightened as he took a deep breath. He pulled away slowly and shook his head, "Em I can't." he signed, a ping of rejection and hurt ran through me. His eyes widened, "No baby no don't be upset." he signed quickly pulling me into a hug. I nodded and leaned back, urging him to continue, "I just don't want to lose control and hurt you. You know I'm new to this and even though you are my mate you still." he paused looking for words. "Smells delicious." I signed giggling as he chuckled and nodded. "I'll wait." I signed, "I'll wait until I die if I have to." I signed and he shook his head, "You won't die, one day you'll be like me but not yet." he signed and I nodded agreeing with him. I would do anything to be with Jasper even if it meant I had to die.
