The Broken One

Chapter 3

     Months had passed and the Cullens and I became close, almost like family. Jasper and I began flirting more as our friendship blossomed into something more. One great thing was I began speech therapy with his Dad. I know I couldn't hear myself but he said I was doing really well and I sounded like a normal person, which is what I was really worried about. This way at least I'd be able to participate in class a bit and if I ever got my hearing back I wouldn't have to learn the language over again. I smiled happily as I cuddled closer to Jasper during lunch, his cold skin never bothered me. I figured there was something non-human about them but I never asked, I didn't care. I just knew one thing, I was totally in love with Jasper Hale and so were my parents. They loved Jasper and how sweet he was and how he actually cared for me and my needs. Jasper looked down at me and kissed my head gently as students' eyes wandered on us like they did every day. Everyone was shocked after Jasper and I walked into school hand and hand one day, ever since they just watched. I sneezed as I pulled myself closer to Jasper. Edward shook his head, "She's getting sick." he signed as Jasper nodded, "I know, I told her not to go sit outside when it was cold but she didn't listen." he sighed back. I huffed looking at the two of them, "I'm right here you know." I signed. Alice and Rose laughed at me as Emmett shook his head.

     Edward suddenly went stiff as did Alice and Jasper. I became concerned and looked at Jasper, his eyes darkening as well as Edward's and Camden's. Alice jumped up trying to grab Cam but he'd already run away. Edward looked at his girlfriend as he went after his brother. I looked to Jasper who was stiff as aboard. I took my hand and gently cupped his cheek making him look at me, his eyes were black as coal but it didn't matter why just that he was ok. I leaned forward and gently kissed his soft lips as he placed his hand on my waist. I pulled away slowly and he gently smiled at me. "Thank you." he signed to me, "There is also something I need to tell you." he signed and looked back at Emmett and Rose who were watching my every move. I shook my head, "I know you aren't human but whatever you are Jasper, I still love you and your family, no matter your mistakes or flaws you think you may have." I signed as I kissed his cheek. Jasper took a deep breath and looked at me, "I'm a vampire." he signed. I giggled and nodded, "That explains a lot." I signed back and Jasper smiled at me, relieved I had taken the news so well. 

     I turned and looked back to the cafe door that the three had rushed out of just moments before, "What was that about?" I questioned. Rose rolled her eyes as she nuzzled into Emmett, "Edward found his blood singer. Her blood it sings to him, he wants to feast but knows he can't. He would never do that to Alice. While Cam, on the other hand, found his mate. Same girl has different meanings to each man." he signed as I slowly started to grasp the concept. "And what about you, why did you get so stiff?" I pondered. Jasper looked down, "I'm the newest to the animal diet in the family and sometimes some blood is just stronger than others. Again I'm new." he signed looking at his hand. I smiled and made him look up at me, "You did a wonderful job Jas." I signed smiling as I looked over to Rose who was smiling as well. "What's even better is you seemed to snap him out of it. It's like his bloodlust was gone the moment you touched him." she signed, smiling proud of her brother as Emmett nodded in agreement. I began to cough suddenly feeling my energy drain from me as I cuddled back into Jasper. I was content and I was happy but that, that moment didn't last forever.
