Chapter 9: Two phone calls and a meeting

Chapter 9

Katniss P.O.V.

"So did anything happen?!" Annie almost shouts in my ear.

I jerk back my phone a few seconds before putting it to my ear again, rolling my eyes.

"No Annie, we just had dinner with mrs Cotton", I say and lay down in the couch with a sigh. "And omg can he cook?! Damn his food was like eating a piece of heaven or something".

Annie giggles at the other end of the phone.

"So he's good looking, totally dreamy, he's very kind and has a very good hand with both children and teenagers, and now obviosuly old people as well, he's cooking is like heaven and he's really respectful", Annie lists. "Tell me again why you don't just ask him out? It's so obvious you like him".

"Oh and what about you missy?" I accuse. "You totally like Finnick".

I hear Annie sigh.

"I can barely say two words to him, let alone a whole sentence", she says. "So I was wondering... Today at work I noticed how smitten you are in Peeta and he is best friends with Finnick..."

"And what does that have to do with anything?" I ask suddenly very confused. I sit up in the couch and take a sip from my tee cup.

"Oh um, ask Peeta to ask Finnick to hang out with the two of us, oh and Peeta too of course, the four of us, you and I and Peeta and Finnick and..." I interrupt Annie since she stumbles on her own words.

"Annie chill", I say. "You're talking to me here, not Finnick, talk sloooooow".

Annie takes a deep breath.

"I'm calm", she says.

"Okay so you want me to ask Peeta if he and Finnick wants to hang out with us?" I ask.

"Yes", she says. "Yes I want that very much, it's a great idea Katniss!"

I shake my head laughing. "Annie it's your idea".

"But you won't say that to Peeta", Annie says warning. "Say it was both our idea".

"Fine", I say. "Fine I'll say that we thought it could be fun to hang out with them outside of work".

"Yes! Yes that great", she says. "Tonight, ask them to meet us tonight".

"Where?" I ask.

"The park?"

"Okay yea fine, I'll call now, I'll call you soon", I say.

"Okay bye", she says.

"Bye hun", I say and hang up.

I call Peeta. He answers when I take the cup and walk into the kitchen. After the first signal.

"Hey Katniss", He answers with his melodic voice.

Butterflies starts to fly inside my belly just by the sound of his voice. It drives me crazy.

"Hey! What are you doing?" I ask.

I turn on the tab in the sink.

"Just hanging out with Finnick", he says. "What are you doing?"

"I'm just doing nothing, if you don't count doing the dishes", I giggle.

Why giggle? I never giggle. Oh god what is this boy doing to me?

"I'd say that count for something", Peeta says, trying to sound encouraging.

"Yah", I say sighing. "Hey Annie and I was wondering if you and Finnick would want to go out for ice cream in the park or something, it would be kind of fun to hang out the four of us outside of job".
