10 WEEKS LATER...
"And that's all we have time for on today's show. The surgery is now closed for the week. Thank you to all our callers, we will leave you with this track from new up and coming band 'The Way'." Carina says into the mic as Amelia presses the buttons fading her out, with a thumbs up signalling they are now off air.
"Great show today!" Amelia says.
Carina looks mildly offended. "Wow, are they not always?!" She asks with a humorous lift of her eyebrow.
Amelia rolls her eyes and laughs. "Obviously, but with everything going on... the trial." She says.
"I told you Amelia, I'm fine. I have done what I can, I have given my testimony. Now it's up to the jury." She says waving off her friend's concern. "Now come on, we have to get to the post production meeting for the week, don't wanna leave Miranda waiting." She smirks.
"Noooo, we most definitely do not." Amelia agrees, gathering up their things and leaving the studio chasing after her friend.
They make their way to the conference room and walk in. "Ladies! Thank you for joining." Miranda says with a sarcastic smirk.
"Like we would ever keep you waiting longer than necessary." Amelia smirks.
Miranda rolls her eyes. "Alright, take a seat you two." She gestures which they do. "Ok so, let's go over this week's shows." She says opening up her laptop.
Over the next hour they discuss the key points from the week's shows, along with the metrics, listener stats, and thoughts for next week. Carina briefs everyone on the ideas she has for next week, some of which were already discussed and mapped out with Amelia, others ones that have come to her over the last few days that she hadn't raised.
"Ok, so I think that's everything." Miranda says, bringing the meeting to a close.
"Carina..." She says as everyone starts to stand. "Can you hang back?" She asks.
"Sure." She says, nodding.
"What did you do?" Amelia leans in and whispers. Carina looks at her with a wide eyed expression as she shrugs her shoulders. "Well good luck whatever it is..." She chuckles.
Once everyone has left, Carina looks at Miranda expectantly. "Relax, you haven't done anything." Miranda laughs. "I just wanted to check in, one on one, to see how you are doing? This last week or so, well it's been a lot." She says.
Carina nods. "It has, I just... I want it to be over, we are almost there."
Miranda nods. "And when are you expecting a decision?"
The presenter shrugs her shoulders. "Detective Herrera called this morning to advise that all arguments and evidence would be concluded this morning. So the jury have in theory been deliberating since then..." She says.
"What have your legal representatives said? How long can you expect the deliberation to go on for?" She asks Carina.
"I have no idea, I mean honestly, I can't understand how anyone couldn't immediately see what an utter psycho that guy is! No reason deliberation should take more than 7 seconds in my mind... but that's not how these things go apparently." Carina says with a shake of her head.
"Ok well I think you should take the afternoon, go home, relax..." Miranda says.
Carina immediately shakes her head. "No, please. I want to be here, I want to work... I need to work. I think if I were at home I would go mad checking my phone every few seconds." She says.
