"Ma'am?" The assistant's voice cut through Jiwon's reverie, pulling her back to the present moment. She turned her head sharply, her initial surprise melting into a warm smile. "Yes?" she replied, her tone brightening the room. The assistant was a striking woman, her round face framed by cascading curls, her light brown skin glowing under the soft lights.

"Miss Nam is ready; you can go in now," she informed Jiwon in rapid French, her broad smile making it clear she shared in the excitement of the moment. Gratitude filled Jiwon as she thanked the assistant, her heart fluttering with anticipation.

With a determined stride, Jiwon made her way across the room. She knocked lightly on the door before stepping inside, the door creaking open as she shielded her eyes against the sudden brightness. It took a moment for her to adjust, but when she finally opened her eyes, a stunning sight greeted her.

Jayoung was perched gracefully on a plush couch, her face radiating joy. Upon seeing Jiwon, she sprang to her feet, the high heels elevating her stature and accentuating her elegance. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" Jayoung exclaimed, her excitement bubbling over as she twirled like a child, showcasing her new dress.

Jiwon gasped in awe. "It looks even better than when we bought it," she replied, her voice filled with admiration. Jayoung nodded enthusiastically, her eyes sparkling with delight.

The dress Jayoung wore was nothing short of breathtaking—a custom-designed Vivienne Westwood mermaid-style creation that hugged her figure perfectly. The fitted bodice flared into a graceful skirt, and the square neckline framed her face beautifully. Paired with dazzling Dior heels and a sparkling diamond necklace, Jayoung looked every bit the radiant bride-to-be. Her hair, usually flowing in soft waves, was intricately styled into an elegant bun that showcased her delicate features.

Without warning, Jiwon felt a rush of emotion welling up inside her, and tears began to prickle at the corners of her eyes. She opened her arms wide and enveloped Jayoung in a heartfelt embrace. "Wow, I can hardly believe it," she murmured, feeling as though a lump had lodged itself in her throat. "You're getting married," she managed to finish, her voice breaking at the end.

Jayoung pulled back slightly, concern flickering across her face. "It's me who's getting married! Why are you crying, Jade?" she chuckled, her laughter infectious. Jiwon couldn't help but join in, a mix of tears and laughter escaping her.

"Go on now, greet the guests, alright?" Jayoung urged, clasping Jiwon's hands tightly. For a brief moment, they shared a silence filled with unspoken words, their breaths echoing softly in the stillness—Jayoung's steady and calm, Jiwon's rapid and erratic. In that quiet space, a world of emotions passed between them. Jiwon felt an overwhelming sense of pride swell within her; she was proud of Jayoung for reaching this milestone and eternally grateful to be a part of it.

As memories flooded her mind, Jiwon recalled the countless nights they had spent together in Los Angeles, hand in hand. Jayoung had often vented about Eric during those middle school days, lamenting how he was a constant source of annoyance, never allowing her a moment's peace. Yet, amidst those complaints, Jiwon remembered how Jayoung had confided in her about the budding affection she had nurtured for him. How he had finally asked her to be his girlfriend in front of their friends, a moment that had changed everything.
