Joshua took a reluctant sip of the grape juice that Jiwon had thrust into his hands earlier in the convenience store. The taste was an assault on his senses; it was overly sweet, with an artificial tang that made his stomach churn. He fought the urge to spit it out, casting a disdainful glance at Chan, who was happily guzzling his own bottle of grape juice as though it were the finest wine. How anyone could enjoy such a flavour was beyond him, and he couldn't help but feel a mix of disgust and concern for his friend's palate.
Beside Jiwon, Chan nestled his head against her right shoulder, a contented smile spreading across his face as she affectionately stroked his fluffy brown hair. The warmth of their friendship was palpable, and Jiwon felt a surge of joy at the sight. Jeonghan sat on her left, exuding a serene charm, while Soonyoung and Junhui lounged behind him, their playful banter adding to the lively atmosphere. Meanwhile, Minghao, Seokmin, and Mingyu were huddled on a nearby bench, deep in discussion about something that seemed to capture their full attention. Seungcheol, ever the leader, was animatedly explaining something to Jiwon that seemed to drift over Joshua's head like a cloud. Jihoon, Wonwoo, and Vernon sat cross-legged on the mat, listening with rapt attention, their expressions reflecting a mix of intrigue and amusement.
Seungkwan, however, had taken up residence on Jiwon's left shoulder, pouting like a child denied his favourite treat. Jiwon made sure to give each member equal attention, caressing Seungkwan's hair gently, patting Jihoon's shoulder encouragingly, and sharing laughter with the others. The crisp evening air rustled through the park, causing her hair to dance playfully around her face. It was a calm enclave, almost abandoned, save for the rusty iron slides and swings that creaked softly in the breeze, lending an air of nostalgia to the setting.
"Listen, guys," Jiwon announced, her voice breaking through the chatter like a gentle bell. Instantly, every conversation ceased, and the group straightened up, their full attention on her. Joshua raised his eyebrows in surprise; it was rare for anyone but Seungcheol to command such immediate focus, particularly when he was in a serious mood. Jiwon, however, seemed to wield an effortless power over the group, drawing their curiosity out like a magician revealing a secret.
"You guys are planning for a comeback, right?" she asked, her tone casual yet full of anticipation. The collective nodding of heads confirmed her assumption. "So, like, do you want to collaborate?" A small pout formed on her lips, making her look adorably hopeful. A moment of stunned silence ensued, and then chaos erupted.
"Wait, are you serious?" Vernon exclaimed, his eyes widening in disbelief and his mouth agape. Jihoon and Wonwoo exchanged shocked glances, but Jiwon nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, I'm sure!" she affirmed, though her expression faltered slightly. "Look, I understand if you don't want to—"
"Jiwon!" Seungcheol cut her off abruptly, taking her hands in his firm grip. Joshua felt a twitch in his eye at the unexpected intensity. "We'd love to collaborate with you!" he declared, his voice brimming with sincerity. Jiwon's face lit up like a thousand stars suddenly igniting in the night sky.
