Hyunwoo stared at Jiwon's proposal letter, his mouth agape in disbelief. He took a long sip from his glass, the cool water hardly quenching his growing anxiety. Gulping heavily, he exhaled through his nose, clearly struggling to process what he had just read. "Are you absolutely certain you want to hold a concert in Seoul?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.
Jiwon, seated confidently across from him, met his gaze with unwavering determination. "I am. Please approve the proposal and send it to the Chairman," she replied, her tone firm yet hopeful.
"Jiwon, you haven't even finished all the promotions for your album!" Hyunwoo exclaimed, his frustration evident. His brown hair was tousled, a reflection of the chaos swirling in his mind as he handled the proposal paper with the caution one might reserve for a live spider.
"I know, that's precisely why I want this concert scheduled for the end of the month, a week after the promotions wrap up," Jiwon explained, smoothing out her skirt as she spoke. Hyunwoo sighed heavily again, the weight of his responsibility clearly resting on his shoulders, but eventually nodded in resignation. "Fine. I'll send it up to the Chairman," he said, defeated.
Jiwon's face lit up with excitement. "Thank you, Hyunwoo! I really appreciate it!" she chirped, rising from her chair and walking out of his dull, cluttered office.
The moment she opened the door and stepped into the bustling hallways, four bodyguards materialised by her side, their presence drawing curious—and somewhat apprehensive—glances from passersby. Ever since the unsettling letter had arrived, Jiwon had been uneasy about being alone. Joshua had sensed her discomfort and made it a point to be by her side at all times. On the rare occasions when he couldn't be there, her bodyguards, clad in sharp black suits and sunglasses that accentuated their muscular build (enough to make even Changbin envious), ensured her safety, effectively warding off any unwanted interactions.
Jiwon retrieved the keys to Joshua's sleek black Mercedes, giving a nod to her guards before slipping into the car. The engine's soft purr enveloped her, a comforting sound amidst the chaos of her thoughts. The guards followed closely behind in an SUV, maintaining a vigilant watch as they set off. Jiwon's destination was a private Chinese restaurant on the outskirts of Seoul, where Joshua and the Vocal Unit were finalising the last touches for their upcoming album. Jun and Minghao had invited her to join them for dinner, and she had eagerly accepted. As "Kidult" by Seventeen filled her ears, she felt a smile creep onto her face, savouring the heavenly tones of her boyfriend's voice.
Over time, Jun and Minghao had become her closest confidants, alongside Seungcheol and Seungkwan. The former was tied up with an official meeting, while Seungkwan was busy with Vocal Unit activities, but Jiwon was fine with having just Jun and Minghao. Her album, "Stargazer," had been released just a few days prior, and the title tracks were soaring high on the charts, both nationally and internationally. Celebrating that success was another reason for tonight's gathering.
