Joshua and Jiwon sat side by side on the plush couch, their elbows brushing against each other, creating an electric warmth that lingered in the air between them. The lights in the apartment had been dimmed, and the drapes hung heavily over the windows, softening the evening glow. The remnants of popcorn lay scattered on the carpeted floor, remnants of their earlier playful antics. Since they had pulled away from that passionate kiss just minutes ago, a stunned silence enveloped them, thick with unspoken emotions. Their chests rose and fell in synchronisation, breaths still heavy with the intensity of the moment, as they wiped their mouths with the backs of their hands.
Jiwon felt a flutter of anxiety at the thought of what might come next. Would Joshua ask her to forget the kiss, as Jeonghan had done? But this was different; she could feel it deep within her. Joshua wouldn't ask her to erase what had just transpired. In fact, part of her didn't want to forget it at all. There were layers of feelings swirling around them, unspoken yet palpable, just waiting for the right moment to be voiced.
Breaking the silence, Joshua cleared his throat, his uncertainty evident. "So," he began, his tone hesitant. Jiwon, unable to contain herself, interrupted him. "Are you going to ask me to forget the kiss?" It was a bold question, but one she needed answered. Joshua shook his head firmly. "No, I wouldn't. I mean, only if you want to—"
Before he could finish, Jiwon cut him off again, her voice steady. "No. I don't want to forget it. Go on." The surprise on Joshua's face quickly morphed into a look of relief and happiness. "Jiwon, I know we only reconnected two months ago," he said, taking her hand gently in his, "but you know I love you—perhaps more than I did back then." His confession hung in the air like a delicate thread, and Jiwon searched his gaze, finding nothing but sincerity.
Her heart raced at his words. She longed to kiss him again, to express her gratitude for finally voicing the feelings she had suppressed for so long. Despite their recent reconnection, Jiwon couldn't deny the truth of her feelings, which had lingered stubbornly in her heart. "I don't know if you feel the same way, so I won't assume," Joshua continued, his eyes searching hers for reassurance.
After a moment of silence, Jiwon took his other hand, her grip firm. "Trust me, I do too," she confessed, feeling a weight lift from her heart. Joshua's eyes widened in disbelief, and she couldn't help but chuckle at his adorable expression. "That isn't sarcasm, is it?" he asked, his voice tinged with hope.
Shaking her head, Jiwon gestured for him to continue. "I want to give us another chance. I mean, I've always wanted to. I love you too much to let go." His gaze dropped to their entwined hands, a mix of vulnerability and determination in his voice. "I don't want to force you, of course. This is your decision."
Jiwon studied him, her heart racing. His sincerity was undeniable, and the truth written all over her face was clear. She, too, wanted to give them another shot, despite the challenges that lay ahead. The prospect of rekindling their love seemed daunting, especially with the spotlight constantly shining on them, but the thought of being without Joshua was even more terrifying.
