Joshua and Jiwon kept their reasons for looking sleep-deprived closely guarded, neither willing to divulge the late-night revelations that had transformed their relationship. Their puffy eyes and subdued demeanours did not go unnoticed by their friends, who raised eyebrows but chose to remain silent, respecting the unspoken barrier surrounding the couple. It was clear to everyone that something had shifted; the air between Joshua and Jiwon felt different, lighter. Joshua even took the initiative to help Jiwon prepare breakfast, an act that surprised not only her but everyone else in the house.
Breakfast consisted of fluffy waffles drizzled with syrup, accompanied by iced tea and flaky croissants. As they all sat around the table, Jayoung helping Joshua serve and Jiwon pouring tea, the camaraderie was tangible, though Eric couldn't shake off his sarcastic undertone. "My wife is helping Joshua while my best friend has ditched me. How lovely," he muttered, crossing his arms and pouting like a child. Jayoung, ever the peacemaker, encouraged Jiwon to assist Joshua further, which elicited a small gleam of happiness in Eric's eyes as she sat down beside him.
After breakfast, Jayoung proposed a skincare session, a suggestion that Jiwon needed some gentle convincing to agree to—she agreed mostly because Joshua silently encouraged her. Sitting between Jeonghan and Eric, Jiwon took on the role of the gentle guide. "No, Jeonghan, you're doing it all wrong!" she chided playfully as he fumbled with the eye patches. Jeonghan scrunched his nose in mock innocence, eliciting a giggle from Jiwon as she deftly placed the patches under his eyes.
Eric, lounging on the couch with an exaggerated sulk, muttered about being abandoned. "You two have fun, I guess," he grumbled, but Jayoung was quick to brush off his complaints, her attention now directed towards Eric as she beckoned Jiwon to assist Joshua.
Joshua approached, a sheet mask in hand, and asked in a soft voice, "Help me put it on?" Jiwon nodded, her fingers nimble as she helped him apply the mask with care. When she finally whispered, "Done," he flashed her a radiant smile that warmed her heart. Jeonghan insisted on next that she help him oil his hair. Jiwon agreed, pouring rosemary oil on her palms and rubbing them together. She massaged Jeonghan's scalp with slight pressure.
As the morning light filtered through the kitchen, the atmosphere felt almost magical. Jeonghan, ever the entertainer, whipped out his phone to snap pictures of the amusing scene—everyone adorned with masks and patches, looking utterly ridiculous yet carefree. Jiwon couldn't help but laugh at her reflection, her green peel-off mask making her look more comical than glamorous. "You're going to regret that, Jeonghan!" she teased as he captured her silly visage.
Once the skincare session wrapped up, they settled down for a well-deserved nap. The afternoon melted away into a haze of sunlight and laughter, and by the time they woke, it was nearly time to prepare for the evening's festivities. Lunch consisted of a simple yet hearty pizza and Coke, ordered by Jeonghan, who seemed to relish in the ease of the moment.
Post-lunch, the group sprang into action, each member tackling their preparations for the reception. With hair still oily and cucumber bits over their eyelids, Eric and Joshua busied themselves contacting event managers, ensuring everything was in place for the evening. Jayoung dashed off to a nearby salon, leaving Jiwon behind to help Jeonghan with his black and white suit, her fingers deftly ironing out the creases. They debated over which jewellery to wear and which shoes would go along better.
