After a few days spending time with the bride and groom we decided our lastnight should be a dinner, but out to eat at a restaurant, and baby this restaurant was fancy as fuck. Chandelier's, expensive as silver cutlery, they even had a man at a cart who comes cut your meat in front of you. Definitely would come back here again. We all sat the table chatting and eating, the night was so calm. "I'll be honest I can't believe I'm about to say this but I miss college days." Dexter said to us, "uh no." XENA said clearly in disagreement with that statement. Jayson and I laughed. "No just hear me out. It was easy than, all we had was classes that's it. Now you got bills, taxes forms, mortgage , Car notes.." he began saying and ranting. "And that's just the physical stuff, what about emotional?" I asked the group. "Exactly! Now you gotta consider this stuff time 10 now that we're adults. I'm just saying it was easier than." Dexter said trying to justify. "Well I prefer now rather then college. I have everything I could ever want. Right here, right now." Xena said to him, then he kissed her softly, they're so damn cute. "Okay Get yourself some privacy mom and dad." Jayson said to them, I boo'd them and threw a fry at them. "Fine, babe you wanna go dance, and get away from these haters?" She asked Dexter so lovingly but rude, if you could be both. "Gladly." He said as he took her hand and they walked off, Jayson and I left the silence between us for a little bit.

"So, ready for the wedding Maid of honor?" He asked me, "of course, but I know you excited to plan the bachelor party best man." I told him, he chuckled a little. " oh you know that." He said confidently we both laughed, it got silent again between us. It was definitely awkward as hell. "Do you want to dance?" He asked me, I was hesitant, I definitely don't want to blur the lines in our friendship but I know a dance wouldn't hurt. "Sure." I said to him, we walked onto the Dance floor and he took my hand. We swayed side to side to the soft melody in the song. "Look I know we never talked about it, and I know you probably don't want to hear this right now." Jayson began saying, "Jayson don't." I told him trying to tune out whatever he was going to say. "No, you have to hear this." He told me, looking me in my eyes, those soft brown eyes, I remember too well. "I am so sorry. For everything, for chasing you then losing your trust, for Putting you around people who shouldn't have even breathe the same air as you... I'm sorry for not fighting hard enough for you." He said to me, I couldn't believe everything I was hearing, I was speechless. Ive been wanting to hear it for so long but now that I have I don't know what to think. "This doesn't change anything between us." I told him trying to keep the boundaries in our friendship. "I completely understand. You have a boyfriend and I respect that. I just felt like that needed to be said, so we can really move on." He said to me, it definitely gave me a bit of comfort to have that closure in the end of our love story. "Well in that case, apology accepted." I said to him, there was a softness to his eyes. Like he's been waiting to hear that too. We continued to dance together, it felt odd, but it felt so right.

The Next Day

Jayson

We were taking our bags to the doorway to go home.  Xena and Dexter wanted to show us out and say their goodbyes, we hugged them tightly. "Thank you for coming guys, for real ." Dexter said to us, "of course man. What kind of friends would we be to not help you celebrate your engagement." Kalii said to them, "Well I'm really going to miss you K, but you know I'm going to be coming back and forth to New York just to see you." Xena said hugging Kalii tighter. "You better!" Kalii said. "Thanks for coming man. I appreciate it. Text me when you get home." Dexter said to me, Kalii and I walked out the house, she stood on the porch waiting with her bags while I walked to the car. "You got a ride to the airport?" I asked her, "Yeah. I'm just waiting on my Uber. It says it should be here in 20." She told me, checking her phone, "you know, I can give you a ride to the airport if you want? This rental is from the airport anyways, so I'm actually going that way." I asked her volunteering my assistance. I could tell she was deciding if she should take my offer or not. "I just wouldn't want you to miss your flight." I told her, she reluctantly agreed, I helped her with her bags, and we drove off.

We finally got to the airport and I was about to board my flight. "Well I hope you get home safe, and I guess I'll see you in Hawaii." I said to her, trying to sound friendly and cool. "Yeah, sure. Hawaii." She said with the same level of excitement as me. It was awkward not knowing whether we should hug or not.  We just decided to go in for a little hug. She started to walk away, and my mouth just started moving. "Kalii !" I shouted, apparently so loud everyone who wasn't Kalii looked back too. She walked back over to me. "Yeah?" She asked me confused. "You know with me being the best man and you being the maid of honor, we should really stay in contact, just to make sure we help the wedding to be perfection for Dexter and Xena." I said trying to convince her, I don't even know if I believed what I was saying myself. "Okay, sure." She said than she unlocked her phone and handed it to me, for me to put my number. I was shocked but of course I'm not going to show it. "Flight 901 departing in 5 mins, to Los Angeles, Last call." The flight attendant said, I hurried and put my number in her phone and gave it back to her, "I got to go, but get home safe." I told her as our hands touch when I gave her back her phone, "you too," she said to me as we gazed into each others. Those eyes, those lips, I was beginning to feel everything I haven't felt in so long, the crave and desire, of wanting Kalii.
