"Why didn't you tell me?" Are the first words that leave her.

And Keigo is relieved, because at least she's talking. She didn't revert back to refusing to speak, or being unable to because they'd hurt her while she was in their care.

"Tell you what?" He asks, oblivious, and then he tries to sit up a little more, wincing a bit in pain but wanting to be able to look her over properly.

"About my parents." She says, her voice completely devoid of emotion. "Why didn't you tell me about my parents?"

Keigo pauses, his eyes snapping up to meet hers, a sinking feeling settling in his stomach.
He blinks, and then laughs nervously again.

"What?"

"Don't play dumb." She says, her voice growing shaky and her wings beginning to spread behind her.

She's fluffing up, trying to make herself look bigger.
She's angry.

"I don't understand." He says, to buy himself more time to answer her question more than anything.

"You-" She begins, fluffing up even more, her white feathers shifting in irritation. "Stop."

And the word is uttered so quietly, so heartbrokenly, that Keigo is immediately swamped by the feeling of guilt, never mind all the other emotions he was struggling with right now.
He sighs, running a clumsy, scarred hand through what's left of his hair.

"Let's not talk about this right now, I missed you loads, kid. I wanna know if they hurt you, if-" Keigo tries to swerve.

"I didn't miss you." She spits, and Keigo winces. "I had to sit for a month knowing you knew this whole time and it's all your fault it happened."

"That's not-" He begins to deny, feeling a little hurt by having all the blame placed on him.

"You didn't even want me!" She yells at him, and he scrambles internally to not shut down, to remain present mentally. "They killed them for nothing!"

"Y/N, please..." He sighs, raising a hand to gesture to lower her voice.

"No. Tell me why." She says firmly, taking a shaky breath, her chest puffing slightly.

Keigo is silent, trying to force his brain to string together a coherent sentence that won't upset his clearly already upset child after so long of wanting to see her.

"What good does knowing do?" He says before realising that's probably entirely the wrong thing to say. "You're clearly more upset now you know, and you were already struggling with it anyway."

"So you just wouldn't have told me? Ever?" She asks, her voice quiet but her hands beginning to clench into fists. "Because it would 'upset' me?"

"Please can we talk about this some other time?" Keigo practically begs.

He knows it's an unfair request but the angrier she gets, the more he can feel himself slipping away in preparation of what could happen in the argument that they were edging towards.

"I'm going to tell everyone what they did to them for Shigaraki." She tells him.

"Okay." Keigo agrees easily, a little breathlessly from relief that the subject's being changed.

"And I'll tell them about you." She says, as though that's a threat.

Keigo can't help but laugh dryly even though it hurts. "They already know I've killed people for the Commission. I had to do so many press conferences to correct it."
