When you wake up, you're immediately aware of a heavy weight over your body. You blink awake slowly, barely aware of voices nearby. You slowly register the weight to be the feeling of maybe some kind of a weighted blanket over you, and you appear to be draped over someone's lap, being held closely to a warm body.
When you come around fully, you realise you're tucked up against Keigo, with a heavy blanket thrown over you and the voices are Keigo's and Rumi's."Hey, hey." Rumi says, her voice still hushed before suddenly concerned red eyes are meeting yours, Rumi's face filling your vision and her nose twitching erratically. "Hakuchō, you there?"
You nod weakly. "I don't feel good."
"Gonna hurl?" She asks with a raised, thin white eyebrow.
"Maybe?" You reply uncertainly.
She hums, caressing your cheek softly and then moving out of your sight again, hopping over to the kitchen. Surprisingly, Keigo squeezes you slightly, his face pressing against your head.
"You scared me, kid. What happened?" He asks, actually sounding a little shaken himself for once.
"I'm sorry." You sob, the force of the action setting off your stomach and you heave, Rumi luckily quick enough to place a bucket in front of you before you puke all over the floor.
Keigo rubs your back patiently as you throw up, all of your nerves and emotions haywire.
"You don't need to be sorry for anything." Keigo reassures you. "You saw something horrible."
You retch again at the memory of all the blood, bits of bone and innards you'd seen the last time you were awake. Keigo apologises as you empty the last of your stomach contents into the bucket, Rumi frowning in concern at you, her nose still twitching rapidly,
"Oh god." You breathe, wiping your mouth, and realising you're in your pyjamas, no longer covered in blood. "What..."
"We had to get the blood and stuff off'a you." Keigo explains, tying your hair back for you gently. "Rumi did it, 'cause I figured you wouldn't want me doing it."
He assumed right, but you're still humiliated. That also meant that you must have been out for a while, but you feel worse than you did when you were last awake.
Rumi gives you an apologetic smile, lowering the bucket now you'd been sat up without incident for a while.
Keigo gently pulls you back against him, lifting the blanket over you again. You don't get it, he's being so nice, but you expected him to be furious.
Maybe it's because Rumi's here too, so he feels like he has to put on an act, but you secretly hope it's not the case.He even pets your hair as you lean against him again, staying still and being quiet. You treasure it as much as you can, not having this much undivided attention since you were a baby, probably.
Even Rumi sits by your feet and rubs your arm softly and rhythmically."When you're ready, we need to talk about whatever happened in the car, dove." Keigo says slowly but calmly. "I've managed to distract Rai's attention for now, but it won't last forever."
Fear strikes your heart at the mention of Rai, and both Rumi and Keigo freeze for a moment before continuing to try to comfort you again.
"You don't need to be scared." Rumi tries to reassure you.
But she doesn't know. She doesn't know how horrible Rai could be, and how she managed to somehow always manipulate you into doing things you weren't happy, or confident in doing.
"Hey, Y/N, look at me." Keigo says softly, tilting your head back gently.
You look up at soft, golden eyes with blonde, fluffy eyebrows pulled into a concerned frown. You can see his freckles clearly, and the smooth skin of the scar on his neck and cheek. His lips are tugged downwards slightly as his eyes scan over your face, as though he's looking for something.
