It was the day after Athy and the twins had the 'talk' with Lily and Felix.
Currently, Athy, Lily, and Felix were pale, while the twins stood blankly beside Athy. If you paid closer attention to the twins, you'd notice the scheming glint in their eyes.
Athy was pale from staying up all night, pretending to sleep while Lily whispered beside her, "Princess, Lady Diana is always with you,"
"We should be heading out now." Felix said, a hint of hesitation in his voice.
The mood was incredibly awkward, and it was getting to an unbearable level. Athy let out a silent sigh and decided to try ease the tension.
'Was I being a bit too much yesterday...? Oh well.' Athy thought as she walked up to Felix and tugged on his cape.
"Athy's legs hurt. Give me a piggyback ride."
"Ah! Yes, princess." Felix quickly obliged, crouching down with a flustered smile.
You could hear a relieved sigh coming from Lily in the background as Athy successfully resolved the ongoing tension. Though if you were to look at the twins closely, you would be able to make out the slightly disappointed expression on their faces since they couldn't put their plan to scam Felix into action and make him apologise with money.
"Well then, please return safely."
"Bye bye, Lily!" Athy said.
"We'll see you later," said Felix while walking out.
The twins nodded at Lily in acknowledgement and followed the others.
Look at them, acting like newlyweds. They don't have feelings for each other, do they? Athy thought, watching Felix with growing incredulity.
She was certain Felix liked Lily, but something about the way they interacted made her question whether she was missing something. To confirm her suspicions, she shifted her gaze toward Azrael and Ambrose, silently seeking their opinion.
Azrael noticed first. He exchanged a knowing look with Ambrose before giving Athy a mischievous smirk. With a flick of his fingers, glowing words appeared in the air, floating just above the twins: When is their wedding?
Athy let out an annoyed sound after reading the words, her thoughts confirmed. She turned her burning gaze toward Felix, her exact thoughts being, you can't have Lily!
Ambrose stifled a laugh, careful not to let Felix notice the 'magical' words floating behind him.
Unfortunately for them, Felix had felt the weight of their burning gaze and heard their stifled laughter and slowly turned his head to see what had happened.
Athy realised this and her face paled slightly in panic while Ambrose's expression immediately turned flat with slightly widened eyes.
'Wait! No! Don't look!' Athy and Ambrose yelled internally.
Felix looked confused as he saw wisps of crimson-gold magic dispersing and the too innocent looking guilty faces of the twins, smiling at him as if nothing in this world was wrong.
Luckily, Azrael reacted before Felix had fully turned his head and so he was able to disperse his magic. Athy and Ambrose held themselves back from releasing relieved sighs.
Felix had spent enough time with the children to know that whatever they were up to, it was better left unknown, so he turned back to face the front.
"We'll be heading to the audience chamber today," said Felix.
