A Nightmare To Behold

The cakes were finished, and Ambrose noticed that they had been with the emperor for long enough and decided to ask, "Your Majesty, may we be excused now? I believe we have taken up enough of your time."

Athy happily thanked Ambrose in her mind as she, too, wanted to leave this disastrous place.

"You may go." Claude had coldly replied, yet he felt slightly hesitant as he said so.

"Thank you, Your Majesty." The princes said, as they hopped off their seats and bowed elegantly to him.

Athy got off her seat and clumsily bowed to Claude while saying, "Thank you, Papa!"

Claude only looked down at them while they all walked away together.

When they got out of the place, the knight Felix offered to take them all back to their palaces. In response, Azrael said to him, "Take Athy back. I can teleport me and my twin back to our palace on our own."

Felix bowed and replied with, "Yes, Prince Azrael."

And with that, the princes were surrounded by crimson magic and were teleported back to their palace.

After the twins left, Athy heard the knight next to her say, 'Excuse me, princess.' Before she was picked up by him. The knight then began walking to Ruby palace as Athy quietly sat in his arms, hoping to reach Ruby Palace sooner.

Just as they reached Ruby Palace, they saw how the palace was in chaos. Lily saw Athy in the knight's arms and turned pale as she nearly fainted right then and there. Lily quickly took Athy from Felix's arms and moved far away from him, she held Athy close to her as her arms were trembling.

Athy could kind of guess her expression judging from her behaviour and the trembling. When Athy lifted her head, she saw Felix's bewildered expression, as he was being treated like a kidnapper. If the twins were here to see this, they would be cackling non-stop at his expression.

"The emperor said that he will come ask for Princess Athanasia soon."

Athy froze at those words. 'What. What did he just say?'

And it was not only Athy who was shocked, everyone had been astonished. And Athy couldn't help but wonder why they had half fearful, half happy faces. Perhaps they were glad that Athy was finally getting attention from the emperor?

Felix only left after dropping that bomb on Athy and then the palace erupted into chaos for another reason that day.

"Keuk!" Athy had thrown up from all the emotional stress the emperor had caused. If Claude hadn't been so strong and scary, she would have demanded that the emperor pay for her therapy.

"Princess!"

That night, Athy laid in her bed making new plans. 'Plan A failed.'

Athy crumpled the note that was in her hand, the writing was in Korean so its not like anyone could read it. She scribbled out the words on the top of the paper.

Her first plan was to live in the Ruby Palace without getting noticed by Claude forever, but for obvious reasons, that plan had gone to shit.

Athy had thought that the only time she would have seen the emperor was on her 9th birthday, but clearly, she was wrong. The moment she met Claude the plan was done for. Who would have thought that the emperor lived in such a plain and simple palace, am I right?
