"Okay, it's good that you got some lead to your case but how can you be so sure that, the killer is related to that hospital?" Arjun asked being confused. As "mad" that word canbe related to anything, how is he so sure about the killers relation with this hospital.
" Actually, I wasn't sure either. As I couldn't find any motive for the to kill them. So, I thought it might be a case serial killing as everyone thought. I can't help but feel that there is more to the story. So I started to find any similarities in those victims like do they look similar or if they have any habit that might trigger the criminal to choose them as his target. But found nothing "Navins word stir something in Arjuns mind. So he asked Navin if no similarities are found then how did he find the clue about M. A. D.
" As I couldn't find anything so I searched all the history of their life history then found that all their ancestors used to work in that asylum."
"Thats actually a really good progress. So, what are you planning to now?" asked Shlok. " Right now, I just want to drink a cup of tea and searching for all the names that were working on that hospital around those 5 years."
"Good luck, man. You came so far, hope you will solve the case." Arjun said.
"Thank you. But you say, heard that you guys are working on "The wild animal" case. "Navin asked them. "Yes" replied Shlok. "So, how is the progress? ."
"Just pray that we don't lose our job in for this case." Shlok said being irritated. As Navin saw that Shlok was not answering his questions so he asked Arjun what was the problem.
" Yesterday was the twenty seventh deadbody that has been found. And, nobody is trying to take it seriously. Even I gotten an ultimatum to give up on this case. I waste my time on it and the chance I got to save my job is also gone."
Navin sigh understanding the problem and kept silence . They that their snacks. While having tea Navin spoke ," Do you want to give up."
Arjun and Shlok looked at him as he started speaking again.
" It's only about you. What do you want? You are talented enough to get another job. Yes, you couldn't solve any case in the specified time. But, those cases are still unsolved and you are the one who showed some progress on those cases. We all know that you are in a tough time and is in a disagreement with chief of editors at some points. Nonetheless you here still in this office shows that you are capable of solving the issue. "
" And if something happens your brother is still here."Both Arjun and Navin looked at him weirdly. Then Arjun said that" Really, in front of chief your lips get sealed, your legs starts to feel weak and you are saying that you are there for me. I mean I should be identified as a very lucky person i must say. "
Arjun said to Shlok with a smirk in his face, even Navin was looking at him teasing smile. As they both know Shlok is terrified of chief. He once fainted because chief called him in his cabin.
" I wasn't talking about me, I was talking about Navin. I wanted to say that if something happened then Navin is here. Stupid." Shlok said with a neutral face. Suddenly being wry he asked Navin,
" Seriously, Navin how do you survive so long being that moster in human skins son - in - law. When I go to talk to him, feels like he is going to eat me alive. Also, I heard that he used to dislike you. Is that true?" Though Navin laughed at him he didn't tell Shlok his secret to control that Monster in human skin. And Arjun just rolled hus eyes at Shloks gossiping like next door aunty behavior.
Arjun again started to work on the case. Days went by but there is no clue found. The pressure from chief is increasing to leave this case and work on something important, that could save his job, his career as a reporter. But he cannot leave this case. He just cannot.
One night, we see Arjun in his table in front of his laptop looking at a picture,Where he was with a boy. Both of them were in school uniform and looking at the camera smiling. The innocence, naivety, enthusiasm can be seen on their eyes.
When Arjuns mom called him for dinner, he shut down his laptop and went to his mom.
"Son, are you alright?" asked Arjuns mom,Seeing him in distress. "You are looking tensed for quite a few days."
He felt his mom put her hand in his shoulder in support.
He was just 10 years old when his father left them,and another woman. After him his mother faced the cruelty of this society. A woman left by a man is a favourite prey of the world. They never leave that woman in peace. Who is at the is never their obligation to identify.
Arjuns mother fight with the moral values of the society for him. To give him a comfort life. But he is struggling in his turn. And its eating him from inside. She has always been his support system. The guilt of failing to give her a good life is extremely nasty and awful. But, he is trying and he will try till his last breath.
"You know dear keeping all the things to yourself will only increase the burden. If you don't want to talk then it's fine, I won't ask you anything."
"But, remember if you feel you you can't cope up anymore.You want to quit, I will always be here for you. As your listener, as your supporter."hearing his mom he couldn't stop his tears. The tears that he was hiding from this world, couldn't be hidden in front of his mother . He was crying like a baby hugging his mom. Though he wasn't speaking anything still was complaining to his mom about this world through his tears.
And his mother was listening to his complaints while petting his head also with tears in her eyes.
Ten minutes were like ten years for him, in his mother's arms. His crying has been stopped but he was still sobbing. When putting his head in her lap he said, "I don't know ma, I tried everything to save my job but I don't think the affords I put is fruitful. I couldn't even look after you properly. Nor I can make you happy. "
"Why are you saying that, dear. I am more than happy." his mother said with care in her eyes.
"NO, ma. You are in the wheelchair still doing household work. I couldn't even afford a housekeeper or a caretaker for you. You need that but I can't give you, I am a failure ma. As a son, as a person. I couldn't even solve a case. I am nothing but a failure ma." He said crying out loudly. The more days went by this feeling of being a failure is depressing him. Now he just couldn't take it any more.
" No, you are everything a mother need in her son. So what, we don't have a househelp, you my son come every day after work still helps me in my chores. And, if its about case then there is still a hope. If you don't found any lead then start again, concede defeat till the end, dear. Let me remind you, there is always ahope for everything. "
She feed him with her own hand and stayed with him till he slept.
In the depths of the forest we see someone running with all his might. He didn't dare to look behind. He was looking for anyplace to hide.
