The loud shattering of a glass and the voices of many people around me startled me. "Yunai, table 110 is still waiting for their order. Stop dreaming and hurry up!" I flinched. Shit, I couldn't lose this job too.
My boss looked at me angrily with his small eyes. I quickly stood up und took the plates for the table just mentioned, then I started running.
Just before the table I tried to put on the best smile I could manage and then put the plates down. "Have you paid yet or do you want to do it now?" Only after I had said these words I looked into the faces of the guests and froze.
"Hey baby..." said one of the three boys. To be precise, it was my exboyfriend darren.
"Wh- what are you doing here?" I stammered. One of his friends started laughing. I felt my face turn red. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Darren grinned maliciously at me. "Why? Am I not allowed to be here? I'm just here to pick up my girlfriend."
My polite smile slipped from my face. I knew he was a fuckboy, but the fact that he already had a new girlfriend just two months after the breakup somehow hurt. It shouldn't hurt, after all, it was me who broke up with him.
"Have you seen her?" Darren looked at me expectantly. His dark hair fell into his angular face, while his green eyes seemed to pierce me. He watched me like a wolf it's prey, always ready to pounce and as if he was just waiting for my next move.
His second friend now started laughing too. Why was he laughing? What was so funny? Didn't they know what he had done to me?
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I saw her." I was just about to turn around when I heard his voice again: "I think you know her. Do you wanna see a picture of her?" I knew it would be better to just leave, but my curiosity was too great.
^Just do it, what could possibly happen? After all, it can't hurt any more that it does now.^
I nodded inwardly. Yes, what could happen. I slowly turned around and looked at the phone that Darren was holding under my nose. Confused, I squited my eyes because instead of seeing a pretty girl with long hair and bright eyes, I saw myself in the front camera.
My hair was straggly and shiny with greasy. I hadn't had time to take a proper shower in the last few days. Dark circles appeared under my tired eyes.
"That's me."
My voice sounded shaky as I said these words. "I know. Come back to me, baby." All emotions drained from my face. "No.", I said coldly. I quickly turned around before Darren or one of his friends could reply.
Why did he ask me something like that? How dare he do that after everything he had done to me.
^It will be okay, don't worry. I'm here for you.^
I sighed loudly. If that voice in my head wasn't there sometimes, I wouldn't know what to do. I felt so alone.
