A New Adventure

Chapter 10

As Sean gets ready for his battle with Gym Leader Numa, Corey knocks on the connecting doors

 "Hey Sean, I brought you some waffles from downstairs" Corey says while taking a sip of her tea

 While pulling on his shoes Sean calls back "thank you Corey, I'll be out momentarily"  "Char Char!" Charmander cries while tugging on Sean's shoes.  "What Charmander? I'm trying to get ready for our battle later today" 

Charmander pulls off Sean's shoe entirely and runs towards the window  "Char! Char!" Pointing towards the bushes outside 

"I know buddy, but we can't investigate now. We have a battle with Master Numa scheduled. Afterwards we can look around" Sean says while looking out the window  "And give me my shoe you little goofball" 

"Sean!! It's almost go time and you still haven't eaten!" Corey hollers 

Sean opens the connecting doors, shovels the waffle Corey made and then looks back up at Corey  "Mmm rmmdy" He says with a mouth full of waffle

"Ew, chew your food Sean. Mike and Boots are in the lobby waiting on us"  Corey says shoving a napkin in Sean's hands 

Sean wipes his face, runs into the fresher and brushes his teeth at Latias speed. Corey and Sean walk into the lobby seeing Boots and Mike having a conversation

"Ok I'm ready, let's go" Sean says looking down at Charmander, "You ready bud?"  "Char! Char!" Charmander cries while jumping up and down

The crew makes their way over to the Gym. Before they could knock, Boil opens the doors. "Ah, I'm glad you came. Master Numa was getting worried that something happened"

"No sir, I just lost track of time" Sean says kicking the floor anxiously

"Not a problem Mr. Sean, I will retrieve Master Numa. Please prepare your team" He says then turning towards Corey, Boots and Mike. "The rest of you can reside in the spectating area" 

"Hey, you got this bud. Focus on what move you will use next" Mike says patting Sean on the back  while Boots nods in agreement

"Crush her. She's tough but don't let the type advantage go to your head, be smart" Corey says giving Sean a hug. Squatting down to look at Charmander, Corey looks into his eyes   "And be swift, don't get cocky"   "Char" Charmander responds with a nod 

"I'm so glad ya'll made it" Numa says causing the whole team to turn and look at her  "I was getting worried I scared ya'll off" 

"No Ma'am I'm here and ready to challenge you" Sean says stepping towards the battle mat

Corey, Boots and Mike take their seats while their partners, Quilava, Gible and Chimchar

"Todays challenger is Mr. Sean. Gym leader Numa, do you accept this challenge?" Boil declares as he stands on his podium 

"I do" Numa declares while holding her first pokeball

"The challenge has been accepted! The challenger has the first move, let the battle commence!" He shouts

"Cacnea! Let's have a ball!" Numa calls out as Cacnea releases from its pokeball 

"Did she just-" Corey begins to ask  "Make a ball pun because Cacnea is a ball shaped pokemon? Yes, yes she did" Boots says with a chuckle 

"Froakie! Let's make a big splash!" Sean yells while throwing Froakie's pokeball in the air   "Let's start this battle with water gun!" 

"Froa-kie!" Froakie cries as he release a massive tube of water towards Cacnea
