I am looking ay my cell phone screen, seeing that it's exactly five o'clock. I open a small smile knowing that Malia will be late, but my smile dies when the doorbell of the house is rung.
A few seconds it took to wait for Mrs. Luci to knock on the door.
- come in! - I said loudly, fixing the materials that Malia will use.
I look up, seeing the oak door being opened, and then Luci, a sweet lady emerge between her.
- The young lady is here - she smiles, looking back.
- you can let her in, Luci - I smile at her, and she agrees, opening the door more, giving me a vision of Malia.
- if anything, just call me Kylie
- Luci speaks before closing the door as soon as Malia passed by.
The girl is looking at the room carefully, analyzing every little detail of the place. I look at her carefully, seeing that she is wearing a big black sweatshirt, something she never wore.
- Sit down Malia! - I ask and she approaches, making me smell a different smell. - New perfume? - I ask, resting my chin on my hands.
The curly opens a smile, smelling the smell of the sweatshirt, making me bored.
- it's Dylan's perfume - she shrugs, sitting in the chair in front of me, crossing her legs.
I take a deep breath, ignoring her speech, taking the books and putting them in front of her.
- you can start reading on page 45 - I say, and she looks at me with wide eyes making me laugh.
- What's so fun? That's a lot! - she clams her hands on the book, looking at me with indignation.
- without grumbling, Baker! Start reading
- I say, crossing my arms, leaning against the leather chair.
The girl snorts, picking up the book, putting it on her crossed legs, starting to pass her eyes through the letters.
I analyze it for a few seconds. Who sees her like this, so sweet and cute, can't imagine the shit she does or the fire she carries.
- Are you going to be looking at me? That distracts me! - Malia says, looking at me.
- If you weren't looking at me too, you wouldn't be distracted - I retort, and she bites her cheek on the inside.
She looks down at the book and I take the pen to start correcting her exam, knowing that everything is done anyway.
Minutes have passed, and Malia is starting to get restless, swinging her foot frantically, while sticking her nails in her left hand.
- Malia? - I call her, but nothing from her answers. - Malia?! - I call once again, but it seems that she is lost in something in her head while staring at the book.
I look at the girl, trying to decipher what's happening. I see when your cheeks start to shine because of the tears, so I decide to get up, feeling an unknown tightness in my chest.
- Hey, Malia? - I take the book out of your hands, throwing it on the floor. - Malia, look at me! Everything will be fine! - I hold your hands, feeling them tremble. - shit..
- I murmur, pulling the girl and turning her around, making her lean against my table.
I bite my lips, thinking about what to do, so before thinking twice, I hug her, caressing her curls, feeling her hot tears wet my blouse.
- you are all right - I murmur, sliding the other hand down your back.
- my head is hurting a lot - she sobs, laying her head on my shoulder.
I remember Saturday, when I told her the truth, knowing perfectly well that this would bring back the memories and whatever her father did for her not to remember.
- Is something going on? - I walk away from her, putting my hands on her face.
- my father, he.. he touched me when I was younger and that's why my mother abandoned me - she cries so much, so much that I feel like sending that old man to hell at once. - I don't know what's going on, my head hurts too much and I can remember few things - she puts her hand on her forehead, closing her eyes.
I open my mouth to speak, but the girl in front of me totally loses her strength, fainting on me.
- Shit, Baker, it's happening very fast - I murmur, putting her down.
I go to my desk and pick up the phone, dialing a number quickly.
- Joshua, I need your help - I say to the man on the other side of the line, looking at the fainted girl in front of me. - whatever he injects into her, Malia is remembering and it's painful, just come I yell! - I hang up the call, throwing the cell phone in the armchair next door, crouching in front of Malia.
It's been three years teaching Malia Baker, and from the moment I learned that she was the son of a bitch of the policeman who killed my father, I didn't waste time trying to know the smallest detail of her life.
I discovered things I would never imagine, things that happened to Malia that will be a big nightmare when I find out. On the outside Malia is so sweet and kind, her cheerful way while walking with Joshua and Ruby, her life seems to be so perfect.
But when you look behind the curtains, you discover that she has suffered several abuses from her father since she was five years old, her mother abandoned her for not taking it all. And when Malia turned eighteen, she avoided showing who she really is.
Malia is the basis of something very strong in her blood, which makes her forget all the traumas she has, makes her forget all the moments she suffered at the hands of her own father, but the effect is failing after Saturday.
My lines shocked her mind, bringing her mind to certain memories.
- What happened?! - I look at the door, seeing Joshua look at Malia in despair.
- she's remembering things - I say and he swallows dry, knowing this can bring a deep pain in Malia. - take her to my room - I get up, and he looks at me surprised.
- your room? No one can enter the frame of the powerful Cantrall - he comes to pick up Malia.
- just do what I'm telling you, Joshua!
- I cross my arms, moving away, watching Joshua take Malia with ease. - I'll have to pay him a little visit, stay with her until I get back - I say, following to the door, opening it and letting him pass.
I didn't like Malia, but for a while now, after discovering everything, something changed and I don't know if I like it.
