The sun cast long shadows as Mr. James, the principal, led me on a tour of Limberton Academy. The grand lobby, with its marble floors and towering chandeliers, was just the beginning. The school boasted state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, and a library. Outside, a vast lawn with a fountain and sports facilities awaited. The dome-shaped canteen offered delicious and nutritious meals. As we concluded the tour, I felt a sense of belonging. Limberton Academy was more than just a school; it was a place where dreams were nurtured and aspirations were realized. I knew that I had made the right choice in choosing this institution.
The tour was a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation. Each room and space was a testament to the academy's commitment to excellence. I could already envision myself studying in the quiet of the library, playing sports on the expansive fields, and enjoying delicious meals in the inviting canteen. Limberton Academy was more than just a school; it was a home away from home.The tour came to an end as Mr. James took me to show the back lawn that layed behind the main building. There was no one except for us and a lawnmower. It was just as beautiful as the frontmost lawn but much more peaceful by the virtue of the absence of the students here. There was also a pond at the end of the field. It was so cool to be honest. I have never seen a school with a pond before. Mr James offered me a seat in a bench that was surprisingly comfortable for a bench. He took seat beside me. With a wide grin on his face, he asked me;
"So Miss Elstone, that's our little school, did you like it?"
"You call this little? And ofcourse I liked it. If not I loved it".
"I'm glad you are loving this place, but you know apart from the place, the people are loveable too".
"I bet they are".
"Right, I mean look at me, am I not a sweetheart?" He asked with a smirk on his face.
"Yeah no, ofcourse you are a sweetheart Mr. James"
"You did not just call your Principal a sweetheart Miss Elstone!". He exclaimed teasingly.
"Ha ha, very funny" I replied sarcastically.
I took a quick look at my watch only to find out that it had already striked 5 pm. I quickly spoke out "I think we should get going now".
"Don't you wanna see the sunset? It's beautiful".
"I think Rose, you know my sister is done with all the paperwork and stuff, she is probably waiting for us, it's been almost an hour".
"But the sun is gonna set in a few, trust me, you don't wanna miss it".
"I mean its confirmed I am staying here for 2 years now, I am sure I will be able to catch is some other day, if you want you can see it, I should probs go back to Rose".
I got up from the bench and made my way to the building when suddenly I felt a hand grab my wrist. I turned back to see Mr. James. Soon he spoke out
"You are not leaving." And still didnt led go of my wrist. What's wrong with this man? Why is he soo eager to show me the freaking sunset? Like dude I know what a sunset is chill out. But I did not disobey him, I did not wanna fuss with my Principal over some stupid sunset. I followed him back to the bench.
Hw sunset did not occur for 10 more minutes. We were sitting beside each other with his entire body touching mine and he's hand casually draped on my back.
You could say the position was a little too comfortable considering the fact that this was our first meeting and he was my literal Principal. Why did it seem like he somehow wanted to just sit in that position for long. You know, I didn't exactly feel uncomfortable, wrapped around his hands but it didn't feel too good. Like it felt a little too much. I gently sat up after the sunset was over. Removing his hand from my shoulder carefully enough so that he didn't think it was rude of me.
We finally made our back to his office where my sister was probably wondering, why the tour was so damn long. I wish I could tell her that the Principal was getting a bit too comfortable with me. Ok fine, that came off a bit creepy. I mean hear me out, he's a good man I know, but I felt some type of affection coming towards me. But I have no idea if that's me. Is it because I think he's attractive and maybe even the normal gestures that he is making are coming off as affectionate? Does that mean I'm delusional?
I have never had crushes, I have never been delusional about anything. I have had a boyfriend before but the relationship was very practical, you could say. He asked me out, we kissed a little bit, we went on normal dates occasionally, but had study dates most of the time. The kisses and shit was just some stupid formality. There was no actual affection from both parties. We were just in it cause we were both benefiting from each other in some way or the other. Sounds artifical and toxic? Nope, it was actually very healthy but I cannot argue about the artificial part.
We finally reached his office. It was a long walk, my legs felt weak, atleast the main building had elevators which I didn't spot in the other buildings. As we walked in his office, I saw that my sister was on her phone scrolling on Insta, with all the paperwork in front of her.
Mr. James cleared his throat to bring my Rose's attention to show that we were done with the tour. My sister quickly looked back at us and stood up, keeping her phone on the desk.
"Miss Elstone, are you done with the paperwork?"
"Yes its done" my sister replied handing over the documents to Mr. James.
Mr. James scanned over all the freshly filled documents and finally spoke out
"Alright, yes, Miss Elstone, you are now officially a student of the Limberton Academy, Welcome to your new home" he replied smiling brightly."Thank you" I replied also smiling.
"I suppose it's time for your sister to now move into her dormitory". He told me sister.
"Right and I should probably get going".
Both me and Mr. James walked me sister to her car to say my final goodbye to the best sister in the world. My sister gently kissed my forehead and told Mr. James "Make sure to take care of my sister, she truly is my little princess". We both became teary eyed.
"There won't be any problem with that, we will take good care of her, Mr. James said patting my head. Eww.
"Thanks, I should get going" My sister said.
My James spoke out again, "Wait before you go I must tell you, you are a beautiful young lady as well as your sister". He said this with a grin to brighten the mood and make it less emo. Why is he so flirteous? Like bro, you the Principal.
"Thank you, you flirt. You know, the beauty in the genes" my sister replied playfully.
"I bet" he replied back.
I kept waving my hand until my sister's car vanished away in the suburbs.
"I guess it's time for you to move in" Mr. James said enthusiastically.
