she looks in the mirror, eyes cast down,
a girl lost in a sea, about to drown.
her worth, she thinks, is less than none,
a shadow fading with the setting sun.

she hears the world, but feels alone,
a fragile heart carved out of stone.
every smile feels like a lie,
a mask worn tight to get by.

she hates the skin shes living in,
a silent battle she cant win.
in every flaw, she finds her shame,
a life she can't help but blame.

yet in the night, she softly cries,
a wish to see herself through kinder eyes.
to feel a love shes never known,
and find a place she can call her own.
