shattered faith:

she held out her heart in pieces,
fragile, like glass in the rain,
hoping someone might see it,
and mend her from the pain.

but every hand that touched her,
promised to make her whole,
only left her more broken,
carving scars into her soul.

she trusted with trembling fingers,
with eyes closed tight in fear,
but they took her shattered fragments,
and left her with more to bear.

each time she tried to believe them,
to think someone might stay,
they walked away with her heartstrings,
leaving nothing but decay.

now shes built up her defenses,
high walls that no one can climb,
shes learned that trust is a weapon,
that wounds her every time.

she pushes them all to the distance,
with smiles that never reach her eyes,
convinced that love is a phantom,
that only lives in lies.

she hides in her lonely fortress,
where no one can cause her pain,
but inside, shes aching,
for the touch she can’t regain.

she wonders if shes unworthy,
if shes broken beyond repair,
so she drowns out her silent screaming,
in the darkness of despair.

shes forgotten how to be open,
how to let someone inside,
for every time shes trusted,
theyve only left her behind.

so she walks this path alone now,
with no one by her side,
convinced that love is a battle,
shes not strong enough to fight.
