....

"Why?" He asked as he gulped ever so slightly, his eyes locked with mine. The look of sadness in his eyes pierced right through my chest but- I can't escape my fate and I can't let him escape from reality.

"Because I am not a person you could be looking for. I am not the one for you," I replied firmly, the voice came out making his eyes broaden slightly at my words, clearly not understanding the meaning behind them.

He shook his head ever so slightly, indicating his lack of understanding. "What do you mean?" He paused, his hands reached out for my shoulders as he held them firmly and continued, "what makes you say that?"

What makes me say that...? I bet you wouldn't want to know. But I also know you won't give up that easily either.

And that's why I'm sorry, truly sorry for what I am going to do next but it's for your sake. In order to make you give up on me, I'll have to make you hate me first.

"It's simple, really," I began, each word tasting like poison on my tongue, "I was only using you for your money. But, come on, even that has its limits, don't you think?" My voice was cold, detached, as I watched him flinch at the cruel words.

The disbelief in his eyes broke my heart, but I couldn't stop now.

"You make me sick," I spat out, though inside I was already breaking. "Stop pestering me. I'm done with you. You're acting just like every other guy who can't handle rejection. Just let it go, for god's sake!"

I saw it clearly-the hurt in his eyes, a flicker of pain that made them darken, his gaze narrowing as if he couldn't recognize the person standing in front of him.

How heartless I must seem right now.

But despite knowing how much I was hurting him, I pushed on. "If you have even a shred of self-respect left, then stop this," I said, my voice steady, refusing to let any hint of my own pain slip through. "Walk away, Taehyung. This ends here."

My voice firm, my eyes not drifting from his at all as I spoke all those harsh words, just so he would know that this was the end of this. Right now and right here. It ends here.

He looked at me, the silence stretching unbearably long, his eyes searching mine desperately for any sign that I didn't mean it.

"Do you really mean this?" he asked, his voice barely more than a whisper, his brows furrowing in disbelief. "Did I really mean so little to you?"

"Yes," I replied, forcing myself to meet his gaze without flinching. I placed a hand over his chest, feeling the warmth of his skin beneath my fingertips, and gently pushed him back. His hands fell limply to his sides, his grip loosening as he took a step away from me.

"I made that deal with you for money," I continued, each word slicing through the air like a knife. "You're misunderstanding my intentions. Whatever feelings you thought I had for you-they were nothing but a nuisance to me."

I saw his lips part, ready to protest, but I didn't let him. "So please," I said, my voice now softer but still resolute, "just stop. Let's not see each other again."

He stood there, frozen, his hands still slightly raised as if he was reaching out for something that was no longer there. The shock etched onto his face slowly faded, replaced by a small, bitter smile.

A smile that broke my heart into a thousand pieces.

He tucked his hands into his pockets, that smile barely holding back the pain, the raw hurt I had inflicted on him. A smile that showed just how much he was trying to keep it together, how hard he was pretending that my words hadn't shattered him completely.
