Chapter 3

The hotel felt like a tomb, with the constant threat of zombies lurking just beyond the door.

I need to find survivors, she thought.

I can't be the only one left alive.

Her mind was set, and after grabbing her bag and her weapons—a gun and some arrows—she left room 1102 for the last time.

The air in the stairwell felt colder now, her footsteps echoing as she descended carefully. She knew the building was still crawling with the undead, but this time, she felt more prepared.

.

.

As she made her way through the lower levels of the hotel, she came face to face with more zombies. Each time, her pulse quickened, but she aimed and shot with steady hands.

The training in the sports room had paid off, and she was able to take down each zombie with a level of precision that surprised even her.

Eventually, she made it outside the hotel, but the streets were no better. Zombies roamed everywhere, their groans filling the air, a constant reminder that danger was around every corner.

.

.

Suddenly, movement caught her eye in the corner of a street.

In the distance, she spotted a small group of people sprinting down an alley, desperately trying to outrun a horde of zombies. So Hee's breath caught in her throat.

I'm not the only one! she thought with a surge of hope.

Without hesitation, she raised her gun and fired at the zombies chasing them, taking down several from afar.

The group hadn't noticed her yet, their focus entirely on survival as they weaved through the streets. So Hee picked up her pace, running toward them as more zombies appeared.

She shot down a few more as they closed in, her heart pounding in her chest.

.

.

As she got a little closer but still far from them, the group finally spotted her. Their faces were a mix of shock and relief, but there was no time for introductions.

So Hee quickly reloaded her gun and gestured for them to keep moving.

There's too many of them, she thought, her mind racing.

We need to find shelter

She continued shooting at the zombies as they chased after the group. For every one she killed, it seemed like two more took its place because of the Gun Sound.

But she couldn't stop now. She had come too far, survived too long to give up.

Her legs burned as she ran, her chest heaving with each breath, but the sight of other survivors filled her with new determination.

I'm not alone anymore, she thought, fighting the fatigue that threatened to slow her down.

There's still hope.

Finally, she reached the group. They were huddled together at the wall of another alley, their faces pale and exhausted.

So Hee didn't speak—there was no time—but the look in their eyes said it all. They were just as desperate as she was, just as determined to survive.

I'll follow them, she decided, adjusting the grip on her gun.

Maybe they know a safe place.

Or maybe... we'll find onetogether.
