Olympus. It's nothing like the stories say. It's incredible. It's beautiful. It's...filled with a bunch of angry-looking Olympians that can't wait to kill you.
"Riley Rykers. Demi-human child of Zeus. As Zeus' blood child, you must participate in the Challenge."A woman with light brown hair and matching brown eyes stares at Riley with an evil look in her eye. She definitely has to be Hera.
Apollo had warned her that Hera only just found out about Riley being Zeus' love affair with a human woman. Just so you know, she isn't happy.
There are sixteen thrones in the large room. In the corner is a small flame with a young girl standing beside it. What catches Riley's eye is the two empty thrones among the table of gods. The last remaining fourteen thrones include: Hera, Artemis, Apollo, Ares, Zeus, Poseidon, Dionysus, Hermes, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Athena, Demeter, and Hestia.
You ever notice how they're like all H's and A's? No? Just me? Ok...
Riley crosses her arms defiantly. "How do we even know this human is the child of Zeus?" Aphrodite complains. She's just as beautiful as the stories say she is. She has long wavy blonde hair and glowing blue eyes. Unfortunately her attitude isn't quite so beautiful.
That one question brings the room into a three sided battle zone. One side agrees with her, another side disagrees, thinking Riley is his daughter, and the final side doesn't care and simply wants to leave.
Riley clenches her fists. They're all arguing about HER. All trying to define who SHE is.
A quiet spark lights up the atmosphere in a subtle but noticeable tingle. The hair on Riley's arm stands up like it would on a cat that's being threatened. Quickly, the arguing dies down and the room is left in silence. The gods look to Zeus with questioning glances but the lightning God shakes his head and points at Riley. No words were spoken, yet the whole room could understand his meaning.
It was Riley causing the tingling. Which also proves that Riley is indeed Zeus' daughter. A snarky smile threatens to fill her face but she fights it off. The spark fades as Riley relaxes, the hair on her arms slowly retreating.
She sighs tiredly and rubs her face. Now that she thinks about it, she hasn't actually gotten any sleep since falling off the waterfall.
"Um. Riley?" Flynn whispers. He tugs her sleeve nervously. The entire room is now fixated solely on them. On Riley.
"I'll play your stupid challenge. But after I win, I'm leaving and I want nothing to do with any of you ever again." She stares straight at Zeus. Benny and Mai are waiting for her back in Rainsville so she can't waste any time here.
"IF you win the challenge. Which you won't. Not a single demi-human has ever won against a real God. Minor or not." Aphrodite crosses her arms and taps her foot. She really doesn't like Riley.
"Riley will win. She's amazing so it won't be a challenge at all!" Flynn shouts from behind Riley.
Aphrodite huffs, "And why are you here, HUMAN?" She spits. To Riley's surprise, Flynn doesn't back down. He lifts his head and sticks his tongue out at her with a grin on his face.
Riley glares at Aphrodite, failing to keep the smile off her face, "Leave him alone you dumb blonde." Ares burst out laughing. A few others chuckled as well. Aphrodite's face grows pink before she slams her hands on the arms of her throne made of roses and pink girly stuff.
"Why you insolent-" Zeus slams his hand down, effectively silencing her.
"Riley Rykers. Do you accept the challenge?" His voice booms, "Should you win, I will accept your terms. You'll be exempt from the Challenge and you'll never have to see Olympus again. Are these terms acceptable?" He asks. Zeus has white hair and-who would have guessed- lightning blue eyes. He also has a white beard and a few facial scars.
"I accept." She clenches her fists again, "I WILL win. And then I'll shove it in your stupid faces." With that said, Riley leaves, sticking her tongue out like Flynn had done earlier. Flynn follows, while of course making funny faces at Aphrodite.
The two walk down the massive hallway, there's tons of windows the entire way down. Olympus really is beautiful.
The hallway is big enough to fit a giant and is mainly silver, almost no gold in the entire place. It has a long burgundy carpet leading down the center of the walkway and pillars shaped like various items from mythology lining it.
There's a massive mountain in the distance to the north that goes beyond the clouds. Behind it is a sort of rocky area but it opens up along the middle where it dips down into a large stadium that kind of resembles the Roman Gladiator Colosseum.
While in the east there's a forest so big you couldn't even hope to see the end of it. That's the complete opposite from the west- The West is open plains with a massive river and a few trees, but mainly flowers of all kinds.
That's where the main city of Olympus is; Emberosia. It was named after the food of the Gods; Ambrosia, and the great flame of Olympus that sits in an old temple where the mountains are. Every part of Olympus has a city but none as big or as beautiful as Emberosia.
"You're so cool." Flynn whines while following Riley close behind.
"Really? I'm not really that cool." Riley rubs the back of her neck nervously.
"Seriously?! You didn't even look nervous back there!" Flynn stops in front of Riley, "You have strength- hell, you're a freaking OLYMPIAN! You've got these cool powers and your dads THE Zeus! That's so freaking cool!" Flynn shouts, his hands waving wildly.
Riley grabs his shoulder firmly but gently. "Flynn. I was nervous. I might even be scared. But showing any of that right now won't do me any good."
She looks back out the window. Never had Riley ever expected to see something so beautiful and still so terrifying before. Olympus. It really does exist. And in a sense, Mary was right about the whole blessing thing.
"And yeah, I suppose it is kinda cool that I can shoot lightning out of my fingers or whatever. But I'd much rather be back home taking care of my brother." Flynn pouts, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Alright, alright." He smiles. Flynn grabs Riley's hand and bolts down the hallway, "Come on! We gotta see our bedroom!" He laughs, running down the hall. Riley shakes her head and follows him quickly so as to not get left behind.
The two sprint down the hallway and are soon met with a giant door. Flynn shoves it open and walks into the room that could easily fit five of her old houses in it. Yes, HOUSE.
On one end is a large elegant double bed colored black and blue with a massive window and balcony. Whereas on the other side is a red and white double bed that looks more cozy than elegant. Flynn darts towards the red bed and belly flops onto it.
"Wow! This place is awesome!" Riley walks over to her blue bed and picks up a dress. It's a warrior's dress fitted with armor and chain mail. The dress itself is a deep blue with small white sparkles that remind her of the stars.
"Cool! They even got clothes for us!" Flynn holds up an outfit; a white shirt with chainmail and armor with white and red pants. Riley smiles softly and lays the dress on the bed.
She sits down on the edge and looks around the room again, "Hey, Flynn?" The boy looks over with a giant smile on his face.
"Yeah?" He sets his outfit down and walks over to Riley.
"You know...you can go home if you want, right? I mean, you have nothing to do with me and you can go live life normally," She fiddles with her hands. Flynn sits down next to Riley and with a soft smile grabs her hand.
"You're my friend Riley. No way am I leaving you." His smile gets bigger. The brunette laughs and looks at the now setting sun. It's partially blocked out by the mountains, the biggest peak slicing almost exactly through the middle of the sun. Key word almost, it's barely noticeable but once you see that it's off center you can't unsee it.
"Alright. It's official then I guess." She holds out her fist and he meets it with his own, "We're friends."
