"You and Blake did pretty well." Athena smirks. A slight blush creeping onto Riley's cheeks. "The last thing we'll teach you is strength. You've gotta break a Wyvern Stone. They're very rare and incredibly difficult to break," Athena sets the stone into Riley's hand, it's a smooth stone, a little bit of blue but nothing really special to it.
"Why's it so tough?" Flynn asks while swinging his legs back and forth from a very high tree branch.
"The stone was created from the blood of Hephaestus. There's only so many that were made." Riley plucks the grass from the ground anxiously. Her mind races back to the challenge the other day. She had struggled so hard and just barely managed to pass.
"If they're that hard to break then how am I going to break it?" She grumbles from the floor. Boe sits next to her as cheerful as ever, his brother standing unusually far away today.
"You can do it Riley!" Boe encourages. Riley looks over and returns the smile. She looks back down at the rock and gives it a squeeze. Nothing happens. Of course nothing would happen. This rock is nearly impossible to break. Yet they want her to break it.
She scoffs and plops down on the grass. Focusing her mind, she looks for the electricity hiding inside of it. There's a lot. The light blue color starts small and steadily begins to grow. It grows and grows until the entire area around them is filled in the soft blue light. Every so often a spark flickers from inside it.
Is Riley the only one who can see it? No one else is saying anything about the light. It immediately dissipates into a small sphere around the stone, like a barrier of sorts. Riley pokes the barrier and gets burned in return. "Ow." She mutters.
"What's happening?" Flynn asks and stares at the stone in curiosity.
"I don't really know-" The light explodes and shoves Riley's back into the ground.
Everything aches and burns, her ears are ringing and her vision blurry. The stone is vibrating violently and electricity is sparking from it to the ground.
With a groan she pushes herself up. Everyone's staring at her in shock. "What was that?" She mutters. They all look at each other.
"You just-" Aeo starts but stops. The stone gradually begins to calm, but the pounding migraine in Riley's head doesn't. She grabs the rock and stands up. Why did it explode? She had control over it right? It was obeying her, she's supposed to have control over electricity. So why did it go wild like that? She squeezes the rock in frustration. "So stupid." She mutters.
Riley throws the rock at the ground and walks away, leaving them all speechless, "Any of you gonna tell her that her hair looks like a puffer fish exploded on her head?" Blake comments as he walks over with his hands stuffed in his pockets. Aeo bursts out laughing, Boe and Flynn giving confused glances at the two.
Blake picks up the stone and looks at where Riley is storming off to, "She fail or something?" He asks, Athena takes the stone out of his hand and shakes her head.
"She lost control over the power that was gifted to her." Aeo turns to go follow Riley but Blake immediately grabs his arm. A sudden look of anger in them. Aeo looks at his arm and back at Blake.
"Is there a problem?" Blake, having now noticed his actions, pulls away and clears his throat.
"No. Our parents called a meeting, sent me to get you all." He scratches the back of his head nervously, "So..uh..let's go?" Flynn laughs and jumps from the tree branch. He grabs Boe's arm and runs towards the main building.
. . . . . . . . . . .
The hall of the Gods. Many thrones and all but two gods present, "What are those thrones for?" Flynn leans over and whispers into Boe's ear while pointing to a row of five thrones behind the three main ones.
