"Flynn hasn't done anything for us to not trust him." Raegan's voice fills Flynn's head. A throbbing migraine beginning to form at his temple once more. "We have to tell him our plan. He could help."
"No Raegan. We trusted gods before and this is where we ended up. The pits of Tartania." Vince's voice now. Flynn's eyes are open but all he can see is pitch black.
"How can you expect him to trust us if we can't even give him a chance?" His body won't move, or more like there's a wall blocking him from moving.
"Vince, Raegan. Enough arguing. Our guest is awake." The two voices quickly stop. Grandpa guy's voice takes over the room. "Flynn," The voice is now just in front of him. "Relax your eyes and try not to strain too much." His thumb brushes against Flynn's cheek just below his eye.
Doing as the man says, Flynn tries to relax his vision. Almost instantly the dark begins to fade into a dim lighting. "The darkness here will fight those who try to command it." The man from before is crouching in front of Flynn.
"You're teaching him our ways now?" Vince snarls from a few feet behind the man.
"Yes, Vincent. Flynn isn't our enemy nor our ally yet." Flynn backs away from the man, crawling away on his butt. He doesn't make it three feet before long black chains appear on his wrists.
"Not your enemy huh?" He tugs on them. Raegan rushes forward to block the man's view of Flynn.
"Don't chain him please. Flynn will hear us out. There's no need for violence Grandpa." Her voice is as soft as before. The man's gaze softens and he walks up to her. His hand pets her head lightly.
"Do not worry little Raegan. They are temporary until we can be sure he will listen." She turns towards Flynn quickly.
"Please, hear us out." She grabs his hand and gives her the creepiest yet somehow cutest puppy eyes. Flynn nods his head slowly. It's not like he has much of a choice at this point.
"Great. Now we're telling him our entire plan?" Vince pulls Raegan away by her shoulders. "We can just leave him chained up and use him like that. He doesn't have to be willing to get it done."
"That's not true. He does need to be willing. It won't work without his desire to get there." Zelen pulls Vinces hands off Raegan and guides her away from him.
"Great. Then we use those Lost folk he was so close with." Flynn's blood starts to boil. This guy is really getting on his nerves. "We'll threaten to throw their as- to the real Nightmares. Maybe watching them scream in terror will convince you to do it." Zelen opens his mouth to scold Vince but a large tree root sprouts from the ground and smacks straight into Vinces jaw.
The root wraps around his throat and lifts him from the ground. Flynn's glaring with a brighter pink in his eyes. "You're beginning to annoy the h- out of me. I don't even know who the h– you all are. So shut up or I'll shove a tree down your throat and shut you up." Flynn growls with a frustrated tone.
The pink isn't a gentle one, but a harsh and stern one. "Flynn." The old man places a firm hand on his head. The glow quickly fades, the root still sticking out of the ground.
Flynn glares, the warmth of the plants around him is gone. He can't hear them either. He shakes his head in an attempt to remove the man's hand but the gramps holds on firmly.
The cold metal collar around Flynn's throat begins to burn at his skin. Flynn tugs his head away harder but the burning worsens. "Stop fighting it. It's a metal that weakens the power of Demi-gods and minor gods."
Zelen pulls the root away from Vince's throat, freeing the boy. Vince doesn't look at Flynn nor say anything stupid in retort, "I hope you learned something from this Vincent." The boy scoffs and kicks the dirt.
"Wow, he really is her kid." Ollie shakes off his stunned expression.
"You thought the vines from earlier were a hallucination or something?" Zelen crosses his arms. Ollie shakes his head quickly.
"No. I thought the kid of a goddess would be more...godlike?" Flynn sighs and sits criss crossed. The burning fades slowly until it's gone completely.
"I'm a demi-god. I'm only a half god, my father's a human."
"Who's your father?" Flynn shrugs.
"Desmos said my father was Oscar Eternalis." The old man bursts into laughter.
"Your old man is THE Oscar Eternalis?" He looks Flynn up and down. "You're too young to be his kid." Flynn furrows his eyes.
"But Desmos said-" He raises a hand to cut him off.
"Did Desmos specifically say he was YOUR father?" Flynn stares at the ground in thought.
"No. He said the guy's name and then mine right after. And he was talking to a little girl named Marra. Desmos said she was my little sister." The man pats Flynn's head with a tad too much force added.
"That man is one of the greatest humans to ever live. My guess is that you're a descendant. Since he knew of your little sister that would mean he has to be a near relative, grandpa or great grandpa maybe." Flynn stares at the man.
"Then my actual father could still be alive?" A brief nod is all it takes to make the wheels in his head spin. "Hold on. If Hades is the King of the Underworld, couldn't he tell me if my dads alive?" No one gives him an answer.
"Don't rely on Hades to assist you. After all, he's why you're here." Flynn stares at the ground in thought.
"Flynn. We are the remnants of the great Titan War. Our home was destroyed and our people thrown into cages. It is Hades and his brothers that did this to us." The old man holds out his hand. "Help us free our people."
"Free your people?" His throat runs dry.
"We are going to open Tartarus from the inside and escape this prison." A cold shiver races down Flynn's back.
"You're going to start a war." Vince scoffs and turns away.
"See? He isn't going to cooperate." Flynn looks around him, there's people and creatures that look like normal humans. They're all hiding and scared.
"We do not seek a war. We seek freedom. The titans condemned our world to pain and darkness. We don't want to free the titans and overthrow the olympians. We want to free our people from suffering." Flynn looks at Raegan.
Her eyes are filled with a hopeful and pleading look. "How can I trust that you're not lying to me?" Ollie pulls his cloak off his shoulder to reveal an ugly mark carved into his beautiful skin.
"It's a damn curse. Placed by your gods. As if sealing us away wasn't enough, we can't lie." He pulls the cloak back. His gaze stuck to the ground in front of him.
"You really think the Gods will just step aside and leave you alone?" Zelen nods his head briefly.
"We have somewhere we can go. Somewhere they can't follow. All we want is to get our people there safely." Flynn looks at Raegan again.
"Please Flynn. Help us save our people." She whispers. With a deep sigh he looks back at the old man. The feeling in his gut hasn't vanished but saying no won't get him anywhere. He'll just have to go with it for now. And if they're telling the truth then maybe Hades and the other gods will listen.
"Alright. I'll help you."
