About You

7:30

I'm ready for our date. Actually, I'll never be ready. I'll never be ready to say goodbye to him.

7:32

I walk down the stairs in my dress and heels. Wanda helped me do my hair up and Thor gave me some Asgardian earrings.

I meet Bucky downstairs.

"Wow-I-I, you look beautiful." He says to me.

"You don't look so bad yourself," I tell him.

"Come on, let us go."

I have absolutely no idea where he's taking me. I doubt he was able to get us a reservation anywhere since this was so impromptu. I cannot believe that this is all because of Steve. The good and the bad. He introduced me to Bucky, and now he is sending him away.  He's evil.

I can never tell Bucky about the kiss. I can't tell anyone. It was such a stupid mistake and it never should have happened.

Bucky looks over at me while we are walking, and he can tell I'm anxious about something.

"Hey, you know I'm gonna be ok, right? I'm gonna make it out of this alive."

"You don't know that! What if something awful happens to you? What if you...." I can't even utter the word that comes next.

"Hey, hey, look at me, doll." His eyes soften.

"Don't even dare to think about it." He says to me.

"But Bucky, I just got you, I can't lose you!" We arrive at the restaurant, but I suddenly don't feel hungry anymore.

I just look at him. I'm upset that Steve did this. I can't believe he's leaving, and he may never come back. This isn't Steve's fault; it's my fault. Bucky could die, and it's my fault. How am I supposed to live with myself if Bucky doesn't come back from this?

We decide to skip out on dinner and sit on the beach at coney island. Bucky buys me an ice cream. It's quiet between us while we watch the waves break. In a way, we're like the waves.  Quiet and tranquil until we break.

"Violet, I need you to listen to the words that are about to come out of my mouth."

I look at him, worried.

"Yeah ok, what's racing through that mind of yours?"

I watch as he shifts in his seat. He fumbles around for something in his pocket. He pulls out a little box and gets down on one knee.

"Violet, I know this must seem sudden, but I need you to hear me. I love you. You are the love of my life. When I'm with you, time seems to stand still. I don't feel like I lost anything in the ice when we touch. You're like a daisy in a field of orchids, hell, you're a violet in a field of orchids. Your'e a novel in a sea of magazines. What I'm trying to say is that you're special and I love you. There is nobody I'd rather spend the rest of my life with than you. So, Violet Athena Romanoff, will you marry me?"

I look him sternly in the eyes.

"Yes, James Buchhanan Barnes. I will marry you."
