Two months later.....

Days at the compound go slowly without Bucky. I wake up and I see him. I see where he last left his mug, and how the newspapers are thrown out on the coffee table in the living room.

The funeral was a week ago. I gave the obituary, and I almost didn't finish it. I almost threw myself into the grave with him. Steve didn't attend. He's still living at the compound, but I rarely see him anymore. I think he feels bad for what he did, but I can't really tell.

I still help Peter with his math homework, and I still let Wanda do my hair, so things aren't totally different. Nat woke up, but she doesn't remember much. I have to go in there and teach her how to do things like use a fork and braid her hair.

I'm walking back to the compound from a coffee shop downtown when Nick Fury calls me.

"Hey Fury.  What do you want?" I answer.

"Violet, Something got sent back from Russia. I think you'll wanna keep it."

Russia. I hadn't thought about that awful place since it took my love. But if Fury says it's important, then it must be.

I arrive back at the compound and am greeted by Fury. He hands me a small slip of paper. I excuse myself to read it.

I open it with shaking hands. It's a letter from Bucky.

"To my love,

Things are rough out here. I am not sure if I am gonna make it. I just want you to know I love you. I love you more than the moon loves the stars. You are kind and thoughtful, and make me so happy to be alive. I will miss you more than words can say.I just want you to know that I'll love you. Forever and always - Buck"

I break down in tears. My one true love, taken so fast. This is the last thing I have of him. My last surprise from my super soldier. The man I will love, forever and always.
