It was a lazy afternoon, sunlight streaming softly through the windows, and Joshua was sprawled out on the couch with Seokmin cuddled up beside him. Today was one of those days where Seokmin felt extra playful and comfortable in his little space. His cheeks were slightly flushed, his hoodie draping loosely over his frame as he toyed with the hem absentmindedly.Joshua grinned down at him. "How about we practice some more English today, baby?"
Seokmin perked up, already knowing where this was going. He liked learning English with Joshua, but sometimes he'd get shy or frustrated when words didn't come out quite right. Today, though, he was in a good mood and willing to try. "Okay, Daddy," he said, his voice soft but eager.
Joshua adjusted himself, so they were sitting a little more comfortably. "Alright, let's start with something simple. How do you say 'hello'?"
Seokmin beamed, already confident with this one. "Hello!" he said, his accent making the word sound even cuter than usual. Joshua chuckled, giving him an encouraging nod.
"Perfect! You're so good at this, baby," Joshua praised, watching as Seokmin's cheeks turned pink from the compliment. "Now, let's try something a bit harder... how do you say 'pizza'?"
Seokmin's face scrunched up in thought. He knew this word, but his tongue had a little trouble with the way it sounded in English. "Pijja?" he said hesitantly, looking up at Joshua with wide, hopeful eyes.
Joshua bit back a laugh, his heart swelling at how adorable Seokmin was. "It's close, baby. It's 'pizza'-can you try again?"
Seokmin puffed out his cheeks, determined. "Pijja!" he repeated, with even more confidence, like he was sure this time he'd nailed it. Joshua couldn't help but burst into laughter, quickly smothering it with his hand as not to discourage him.
"That's so cute," Joshua said between laughs, pulling Seokmin closer and kissing the top of his head. "Almost there. 'Pizza'-just a little more emphasis on the 't' sound."
Seokmin pouted, his bottom lip jutting out in frustration. "Pijja," he mumbled again, stubborn and not quite ready to admit defeat.
Joshua shook his head, still smiling. "You know what? I like your version better. I'll order 'pijja' next time we go out."
Seokmin giggled, his frustration melting away as he cuddled up to Joshua. "Pijja sounds yummier," he said, nuzzling into Joshua's chest.
Joshua kissed his forehead, his heart feeling like it was about to burst. "You're the cutest. Okay, let's try another word. How do you say 'water'?"
Seokmin thought for a moment before trying, "Wah-tuh?"
Joshua grinned. "Perfect! That was spot on."
Seokmin clapped his hands excitedly, clearly proud of himself. "Wah-tuh!" he repeated, his accent still giving the word a soft, unique twist that Joshua couldn't help but adore.
"Alright, last one for today," Joshua said, holding up his finger as if this was a big challenge. "How do you say 'love'?"
Seokmin's expression softened instantly, his eyes twinkling as he smiled up at Joshua. "Love," he said, his voice quiet and full of affection.
Joshua's heart melted on the spot. "Good job, baby. I love you too."
Seokmin blushed, hiding his face against Joshua's chest as he whispered, "I love you, Daddy."
Joshua wrapped his arms around him tightly, planting a gentle kiss on his head. "You're doing so well, baby. Your English is getting better every day."
Seokmin peeked up from his hiding spot, his cheeks still warm. "Because I have the best teacher."
Joshua smiled, his hand brushing through Seokmin's hair as he held him close. "You're right, you do. And the cutest student."
Seokmin giggled, settling into Joshua's arms as the two of them relaxed back onto the couch, the English lesson forgotten for now. Even though Seokmin still said "pijja" instead of "pizza," Joshua wouldn't have it any other way. His sunshine was perfect just as he was.
