The funfair was more magical at night. The sky was a deep navy, and the entire fairground sparkled with bright lights, casting a soft glow over everything. Seokmin, holding tightly onto Joshua's hand, was in awe of the colorful lights and music filling the air. He looked up at Joshua, his eyes wide with wonder as he took in the sight of the illuminated Ferris wheel spinning slowly in the distance.
"Daddy, wook at da wights!" Seokmin said excitedly, his baby voice full of awe. "So pwetty!"
Joshua smiled down at him, gently squeezing his hand. "They are pretty, baby. You having fun?"
Seokmin nodded eagerly, but his eyes soon wandered to the towering roller coaster nearby, all lit up in neon colors. His excitement flickered as he tugged on Joshua's sleeve. "Daddy, can we... can we go on da big ride?" He pointed at the roller coaster, curiosity shining in his eyes, but as soon as he saw it zoom by with a loud whoosh, he took a step back, shaking his head. "No no... too high... too scawy!"
Joshua holding his hand, his voice soft and reassuring. "Are you sure, baby? I think you might like it if you try. I'll be with you the whole time, I promise."
Seokmin bit his lip, looking between Joshua and the ride. His fingers fidgeted with the hem of his shirt, and he leaned closer to Joshua. "But daddy... it's so high... what if I fall?"
Joshua smiled warmly, cupping Seokmin's cheek and brushing his thumb gently over his soft skin. "Daddy won't let anything happen to you. We'll hold hands the whole time, and if you get scared, you can close your eyes or look at me. I'll be right here, okay?"
Seokmin hesitated but eventually nodded, his small voice barely above a whisper. "Okay, daddy... I twust you..."
They made their way to the roller coaster, and as they were strapped in, Seokmin's grip on Joshua's hand tightened. The lights around them shimmered, and the distant hum of the fair made everything feel alive. "Daddy, don't wet go, pwease!" Seokmin whimpered, his voice trembling as they started to ascend.
Joshua squeezed his hand firmly. "I won't, baby. I've got you. Just keep your eyes on me."
When the roller coaster dropped, Seokmin let out a small squeal, clinging to Joshua with all his strength. But after the initial shock, he began to giggle between his squeals, the thrill of the ride taking over his fear. By the time they came to a stop, Seokmin was breathless with laughter. "Daddy! Dat was fun! We went so fast!" he exclaimed, bouncing in his seat, his fear long forgotten.
Joshua chuckled, ruffling Seokmin's hair as they climbed out of the ride. "You're so brave, baby. I knew you'd like it."
Seokmin beamed with pride, his small hand still firmly in Joshua's as they wandered over to the game stalls, the neon lights reflecting in his eyes. Then, he spotted it-the biggest, fluffiest bear plushie he had ever seen, sitting high up on a shelf. His eyes sparkled, and he tugged on Joshua's sleeve. "Daddy! Can I have dat one? Pwease?" He pointed eagerly at the plushie, his voice full of hope.
Joshua smiled, glancing at the game booth. "You want that big one, huh? Let's see if daddy can win it for you."
They approached the stall, and Joshua spent what felt like an eternity trying to knock down the bottles with a ball. But no matter how hard he tried, they just wouldn't fall. Seokmin stood beside him, clutching Joshua's arm, his baby voice encouraging. "You can do it, daddy! Get da Plushie! Pwease!"
Joshua chuckled, determined to win the plushie for his baby. After several failed attempts and a few playful groans from Joshua, he finally knocked all the bottles down. The game attendant handed over the giant bear, and Seokmin's eyes lit up like the fairground lights.
"Daddy, you did it!" Seokmin squealed, hugging the plushie tightly. It was almost as big as he was. "It's so soft! Thank you, daddy!" Without a second thought, Seokmin leaned up on his tiptoes and gave Joshua a sweet kiss on the cheek, his small lips pressing gently against his skin.
Joshua's heart melted as he watched Seokmin snuggle the plushie with pure joy. "Anything for you, baby," Joshua said softly, brushing a strand of Seokmin's hair back. The twinkle in Seokmin's eyes made every struggle worth it.
The rest of the evening was filled with more laughter and moments of pure bliss. They rode the carousel, with Seokmin choosing the prettiest horse, and shared a gigantic cotton candy, Seokmin giggling as the sugary treat melted on his tongue. "It's so big, daddy! Too much for my tummy!" Seokmin said, laughing as he held up the giant pink fluff.
As the night wore on, the lights of the fair twinkled like stars overhead, and Seokmin, now a little sleepy, began to yawn, his arms still wrapped around his new Plushie. He snuggled into Joshua's side, his tiny voice soft. "Daddy, I had so much fun today..."
Joshua smiled, wrapping an arm around him as they sat on a bench, watching the Ferris wheel spin in the distance. "I'm glad, baby. I love seeing you happy."
Seokmin nuzzled into Joshua's shoulder, his eyes drooping. "Best day ever..." he mumbled, his words slurring as he drifted off to sleep, safe and sound in Joshua's arms.
Joshua kissed the top of his head, his heart full. "You're my best day ever, baby," he whispered, holding Seokmin close as the fair's lights flickered gently around them, casting a warm glow over the perfect evening.
