Joshua had just returned home from a busy day at work, excited to spend time with Seokmin. As he stepped into their apartment, he immediately noticed the silence. Normally, Seokmin would greet him with a bright smile and his usual, "Shua hyung! You're home!" But today, there was nothing but quiet.
He called out softly, "Seokmin? Baby, where are you?"
He found Seokmin curled up on the couch, holding his knees close to his chest. His eyes were downcast, and he looked as if he were trying to disappear into the cushions. Joshua's heart sank. He knew something was wrong.
"Hey," Joshua knelt down beside him, placing a gentle hand on Seokmin's arm. "What's going on? Why are you so quiet?"
Seokmin glanced up briefly, his lip quivering. "Don't be mad at me," he mumbled, his voice shaky.
Joshua frowned, confused but concerned. "Why would I be mad at you, baby? What happened?"
Seokmin sniffled, rubbing his eyes with his sleeve. "I-I didn't mean to... I was just trying to take some pictures... b-but... the camera..."
It took Joshua a second to piece it together. His expensive camera, the one he used for special shoots, must have been involved. His heart softened immediately. He knew how much Seokmin loved playing around with photography, and he could only imagine the panic Seokmin must have felt.
"Seokmin," Joshua said gently, lifting Seokmin's chin so their eyes met. "It's okay. Just tell me what happened."
Tears started streaming down Seokmin's cheeks as he whispered, "I dropped it, and it broke... I-I'm sorry, hyung. I didn't mean to! Please don't scold me." His fragile frame trembled as he hiccupped through his words.
Joshua's heart melted completely at the sight. He reached out and pulled Seokmin into his arms, holding him close. "Shhh, it's okay, baby. I'm not mad at you. It was just a camera. You're way more important than any of my things."
Seokmin clung to Joshua, burying his face in his chest, his cries softening but still coming in little sobs. "R-really? You're not mad?"
"Of course not," Joshua reassured him, stroking his back soothingly. "I could never be mad at you for something like this. Accidents happen."
Seokmin sniffled again, looking up at Joshua with watery eyes. "But it was really expensive..."
Joshua smiled softly, wiping away Seokmin's tears with his thumb. "I can get another one, baby. It's not a big deal. What matters is that you're okay."
Seokmin's lips wobbled again, but this time, a tiny smile broke through. "I-I was just trying to take a picture of me for you..."
Joshua chuckled, kissing Seokmin's forehead gently. "Why are you so adorable?" He leaned down to press a soft kiss to Seokmin's tear-streaked cheek, his heart swelling at the way Seokmin melted further into his embrace.
"I love you," Seokmin whispered, his voice small and sweet.
"I love you too, baby," Joshua whispered back, holding him close and rocking him gently. "You never have to be scared of telling me anything, okay? I'll always understand."
Seokmin nodded, his head resting against Joshua's chest, feeling safe and loved. And in that moment, all the fear and worry he had felt melted away, replaced with Joshua's warmth and comfort.
