It was a typical day at the university, with students scattered across campus, enjoying their free time between classes. Joshua, known as the university's resident bad boy, walked into the canteen with his usual swagger. His leather jacket, messy hair, and sharp jawline made heads turn, but he didn't pay attention to any of it. His focus was solely on the adorable figure trailing behind him-his boyfriend, Seokmin.
Seokmin, just a freshman, clung tightly to Joshua's arm. Today, Seokmin was in his little space, his wide eyes and shy demeanor making him look even cuter than usual. He had been unusually clingy all morning, holding onto Joshua wherever they went, speaking in his soft, baby-like voice that only Joshua truly understood.
"hyungie, can we get a cookie too?" Seokmin asked sweetly, tugging on Joshua's sleeve as they reached the counter.
Joshua looked down at him, his tough exterior immediately softening. "Of course, baby," he said gently, grabbing an extra cookie just for Seokmin.
They made their way to a table, and Seokmin happily munched on his food, kicking his legs under the table as he sipped on his juice. His innocence and cuteness were on full display, and it didn't take long for some students nearby to take notice.
"Isn't that the freshman kid?" one of the guys muttered, snickering with his friends.
"Yeah, and look at him-acting like a child with the university's 'bad boy.' Isn't he too old for that?"
More whispers and giggles followed, and Joshua's sharp ears caught every word. He stiffened, his grip tightening around his cup as he tried to ignore them for Seokmin's sake. But Seokmin noticed the shift in Joshua's mood.
"Daddy, what's wrong?" Seokmin asked softly, looking up at him with those wide, innocent eyes.
Joshua forced a smile, ruffling Seokmin's hair. "Nothing, baby. Just eat your cookie."
But the comments from the nearby table didn't stop. One of the guys even mimicked Seokmin's baby voice, "hyungie, can I have a cookie?" he mocked, causing the group to erupt in laughter.
Joshua's patience snapped.
He pushed his chair back with a loud scrape, the entire canteen falling silent as he stood up. His eyes were cold, his fists clenched as he walked toward the group of guys, his leather jacket swaying with every step.
"Got something to say about my boyfriend?" Joshua's voice was low, dangerous, his bad boy persona fully on display.
The guys exchanged nervous glances, clearly not expecting Joshua to confront them. "Relax, man, we were just messing around. Didn't mean anything by it."
Joshua's jaw clenched. "Yeah? It didn't sound like 'nothing.'"
Seokmin, still sitting at the table, noticed Joshua standing over the group of boys, his heart sinking. He didn't like fights, and he definitely didn't like seeing Joshua get upset because of him. "hyung..." he mumbled quietly, his voice soft and full of worry.
One of the guys, probably trying to act tough in front of his friends, rolled his eyes. "What's the big deal? He's acting like a little kid. Shouldn't he grow up?"
That was the last straw.
Before anyone could blink, Joshua's fist connected with the guy's jaw, sending him tumbling off his chair. Chaos broke out in the canteen as the other students scrambled to get out of the way. The guy's friends stood up, ready to fight back, but Joshua was quicker. He grabbed one by the collar, shoving him against the wall, his voice cold and menacing. "Say anything else about him, and I'll make sure you regret it."
Seokmin's eyes welled up with tears, not because he was scared, but because he didn't want Joshua to get hurt. He rushed over to him, tugging gently on Joshua's jacket. "hyungie, stop..." he whispered, his voice trembling. "Pwease don't fight..."
Joshua's expression softened immediately at the sound of Seokmin's voice. He looked down at his boyfriend, then back at the guy he was holding. With a final glare, he released him, pushing him back into his chair.
"If I ever hear you talking about him again," Joshua growled, "you'll deal with me. Understand?"
The guys nodded quickly, clearly shaken by the confrontation.
Joshua turned back to Seokmin, his face no longer hard but filled with concern. He knelt down to Seokmin's level, gently taking his hands. "I'm sorry, baby. I didn't mean to scare you."
Seokmin sniffled, wiping his eyes as he looked up at Joshua. "Minnie just don't wan' hyung to get hurt," he said, his voice small and shaky.
Joshua's heart broke at how upset Seokmin was. He pulled him into a tight hug, kissing the top of his head. "I'm okay, baby. I won't let anyone hurt you. Ever."
Seokmin nodded, burying his face in Joshua's chest, feeling safe in his arms.
"Let's go somewhere else, okay? Just you and me," Joshua whispered, standing up.
As they left the canteen, all eyes were on them, but Joshua didn't care. The only thing that mattered to him was the boy next to him-the one he'd protect no matter what.
Because no one messed with Seokmin. Not while Joshua was around.
