It was a peaceful night, the clock ticking towards 2 AM as Joshua and Seokmin lay fast asleep in bed. Joshua's arms were wrapped protectively around Seokmin, who snuggled close, their breathing steady and calm. Everything was quiet-until Seokmin stirred, blinking awake with a soft pout on his lips.
His stomach grumbled lightly, and a sudden craving hit him. Ice cream. He needed ice cream. Still deep in his little space, Seokmin gently tugged on Joshua's shirt, his small voice breaking the silence. "Daddy... I want ice cream..."
Joshua stirred groggily, turning to face Seokmin, his voice thick with sleep. "Baby, it's late... we don't have any ice cream right now. We can get some tomorrow."
Seokmin's pout deepened, his eyes filling with tears as he looked up at Joshua, pleading. "But Daddy... I want ice cream now..." His voice had that whiny, innocent tone that told Joshua his little one wasn't going to take no for an answer.
Joshua sat up, rubbing his eyes, trying to be patient. "Sweetheart, it's too late. The stores are closed. You can have some in the morning, okay?"
But Seokmin wasn't having it. His lips wobbled, and before Joshua knew it, his boyfriend was curled up, softly crying, hugging his knees to his chest. "I want ice cream... please, Daddy..."
Joshua's heart melted instantly at the sight. He hated seeing Seokmin upset, especially when he was in this little space. His protective side kicked in, and he couldn't resist. Leaning down, Joshua cupped Seokmin's tear-streaked face and gently wiped the tears away with his thumb. "Aww, baby, don't cry. Daddy's here... I don't like seeing you sad."
Seokmin sniffled, his wide eyes looking up at Joshua with so much hope. Joshua sighed, knowing he was about to give in. "Alright, alright... we'll go get some ice cream."
Seokmin's face brightened instantly, the tears disappearing as he grinned. "Really? We can go now?"
Seokmin scrambled out of bed, practically bouncing as he pulled on his jacket. Joshua, still groggy, grabbed the car keys and ushered Seokmin into the car. The convenience store wasn't close, but Joshua would drive any distance if it meant keeping his little one happy. As they drove through the quiet streets, Seokmin babbled excitedly in the passenger seat, his usual sunshine self restored.
When they finally reached the store, Seokmin practically dragged Joshua inside, his eyes sparkling as he rushed to the freezer section. "Daddy, look! They have mint choco!"
Joshua smiled warmly, watching Seokmin's excitement. "Of course, baby. You can have whatever you want." He ruffled Seokmin's hair before paying for the ice cream and heading back to the car.
Back home, Seokmin sat on the couch, happily munching on his ice cream as Joshua watched him fondly. Seokmin looked over and gave Joshua a sweet smile, leaning up to kiss his cheek. "Thank you, Daddy... I love you."
Joshua pulled Seokmin close, his heart full. "I love you too, baby. Anything for you."
With Seokmin snuggled against him, happily eating his ice cream, Joshua knew it was all worth it. Even if it meant a 2 AM ice cream run, he'd do it a thousand times over just to see his baby happy.
