A week had passed since the coronation, and Rhea and Jay's routine had gently shifted from occasional meetings to daily hangouts—a fact that hadn't gone unnoticed by their friends. This morning, Jay sat comfortably in Rhea's room as she finished getting ready, their easy companionship filling the space like sunlight.

Rhea was bubbling with excitement for their trip into Auradon City. She adored dressing up for these outings, and today was no exception. She stood before the mirror wearing a tiered denim mini skirt paired with a soft lavender top, her favorite purple Converse—worn in perfectly over nearly two years—completing the look. Her hair was nearly done, twisted into two neat plaits, framing her face with a youthful charm.

"I need to teach you how to do my hair," Rhea joked, twisting the last strand into place. "You could've done it while I was doing my makeup, and we would've caught an earlier train."

Jay grinned, leaning back on her bed. "You also could've started getting ready earlier."

Rhea rolled her eyes dramatically. "Be serious, Jay."

He smirked. "I like your shoes."

Rhea's eyes sparkled as she glanced at her lilac converse."Thanks! They're Converse, my absolute favorite. I have a black pair, too, and some from a Valentine's Day collection." Her voice brightened with an idea. "We should get you a pair! I can even embroider them—spider webs, since you liked that movie so much."

Jay shook his head, a soft smile tugging at his lips. "You don't have to do that. You've already been way too generous."

"I want to," she insisted, standing and grabbing her phone and earphones from the desk. She slipped them into her pink tote bag, covered in red hearts, alongside a thin waterproof jacket and her purse. "Besides, Tals never wants to do cute stuff like this with me. We're already going into the city; it's no trouble."

Jay nodded, touched by her determination and affection. She finished the second plait and linked her arm through his. "Have you got everything?"

"Yeah," he answered, smiling as they stepped out of her room. Rhea locked the door behind them.

As they walked toward the train station, their conversation was light, peppered with flirtatious teasing and laughter. Jay, with a mischievous glint in his eye, called her "princess," reminding Rhea of the night they had baked brownies together. A rosy blush crept across her cheeks, which did not escape Jay's notice. He smirked quietly but said nothing, enjoying the moment.

The train ride was short—a mere ten minutes—but their hands remained intertwined throughout, grounding each other in their shared excitement. They talked about places Jay could visit around town. Rhea recommended the Lucky Cat Café, nestled in the city's outskirts, run by a woman named Cass and occasionally assisted by her two nephews.

"It sounds perfect," Jay said. "As long as it's got good lunch options and isn't just a drinks place."

They both laughed, the plans solidified: explore the city, get Jay his own Converse, then stroll out to the Lucky Cat Café before heading back.

By afternoon, they had succeeded on all counts. Jay's new Converse, a deep burgundy pair, sat snugly on his feet. Rhea promised to embroider delicate spider webs on them, a playful nod to his newfound love of Spider-Man.

At the Lucky Cat Café, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, filled with soft chatter and the smell of fresh tea and pastries. They ordered light snacks and drinks, savoring the simple joy of each other's company away from the bustle of their usual lives.

As the sun began to lower, casting a golden glow over the city, they caught the train back to Auradon Prep, content and quietly hopeful about what the future might hold—both for their friendship and perhaps something more.
