almost half the day was spent in bed as zach fought the hangover from his drunken night, while estelle just stayed by his side. unsure on what to do, since to her, even just going out to the living room felt intrusive.
as the night rolled around and they finished eating the dinner they had cooked together themselves and cleaned up the dishes, zach had lead the girl downstairs and out to the backyard. laying down the picnic sort-of blanket he had brought with before sitting down next to one another.
"um.." estelle quickly gaining his attention, trying to break the quietness. "i saw those plaques up on the wall inside there.. isn't that your band?"
"yeah?" he said slightly confused on where the conversation was going.
"no offence- i'm not judging you at all, cause i do too obviously, but how come your bandmate can afford a house like this but you still live with your parents..?"
"his girlfriend's rich, that's why," he chuckled. "jack couldn't afford a house like this, he'd still be living with his family if he wasn't with her."
"oh.. right.."
"and i'm not the only one from my band living with others.. daniel lives with his sister and brother, corbyn has two house mates, and- well i guess jonah doesn't, him and his girlfriend rent an apartment. but point is, the rest of us aren't living lavishly like this."
"i don't know if i could ever live in a house like this," estelle looked over her shoulder at the place. "it just seems so.. unnecessary for just a couple.."
"i mean they have kids, and are on the verge of breaking up every other month so they probably need the space," he laughed.
"oh.."
"i'm joking, it's not as bad now as it used to be to be- anyway, enough about them.."
they fell into comfortable silence for a moment, estelle brought her knees up to her chest as she wrapped her arms around them and simply stared out at the night sky.
"i love stargazing.." she softly and somewhat awkwardly spoke up.
"mh, should we," zach quickly glanced and accessed the backyard camera situation then turned back to her, "get comfy, you know, stargaze properly or something?"
"what do you mean? like lay down?"
"yeah, let me go grab some pillows," he said as he hoped up.
her attention soon redirected from him to the small gold package that had fallen from his pocket as he pulled his phone out — which went unnoticed to him. the smile on her face dropped as the realisation set in that there was an underlying reason to why he was trying to be so sweet towards her.
