it was the night before estelle was leaving for her weekend los angeles trip, and she was currently on a facetime call with zach — since he had questioned the last time they spoke why they don't facetime much.

she had her phone propped up on one of her drawers and her headphones on to be able to hear and talk to him while she was sat on the floor packing her suitcase, marking what she put in off her little checklist as she went.

"are you feeling better now?" zach questioned whilst watching her.

"yeah, i am," she nodded, glancing over to the boy on the screen and sending him a small smile. "thank you for checking... so what are we doing? just so i can make sure i pack appropriately... party.. something undecided, and then.. dinner?"

"yeah, the party friday, on the saturday we'll just hang out at the house, and then i'll take you out to dinner before you leave on sunday."

"okay," she agreed to the plans as a whole, thinking about what she would wear the two nights out.

"i'm sure you can steal something from adalyn if you're not feeling what you've packed- adalyn's my mate's girlfriend," zach mentioned after seeing the confused expression on her face.

"oh okay.. but it's fine, i'm just trying to think what i should bring."

"a couple causal outfits and a couple going out outfits should be good."

"um.. did you decide on where we're going for dinner?"

"it's a surprise. and it's not just dinner, it's a date."

".. have you not picked somewhere yet?" she raised a brow with a small giggle escaping her lips.

"no, i have."

"oh, well can i get a guide on how fancy it is? and how dressed up i should be?"

"fancy," he simply nodded.

"but what's that suppose to mean dressing wise," she chuckled.

"i've told you, there's no such thing as being overdressed here. dress up however you'd like, ess."

"would you like to help me pick something out that'll go with what you're wearing then?" she somewhat awkwardly questioned.

"yeah," he quickly nodded. "do i get to see a little fashion show?"

"well, i don't really want to put on a bunch of clothes, i'm already in my pyjama's," she giggled. "i'll show you the options."

"okay, that'll work too, i guess," he playfully replied.

zach watched as she opened her wardrobe and repositioned her phone on one of the shelves, getting it in a good spot for her to be able to show the full length of the options.

firstly grabbing out an a-line cut soft dusty pink mini dress for the party, taking it off the hanger and gently throwing it over towards her suitcase, before bringing her attention back to finding a dress for their dinner date.

"what was that one for?" he chimed.

"the party.. anyway i have a couple, fancy, black-tie sort of dresses.. i have this one," she grabbed it out, taking a couple steps back and holding it up to her body.

then laying the dress on her bed beside her before repeated for the next two. the boy simply humming as he took in the options, not wanting to share his opinions until he had seen them all.

"or there's this semi-ish, not as much fancy one," she pulled out a long fitted pink floral dress, followed by showing a different one of the same fit, this time yellow with ruffles details. "or even this one... that's all the like longer, fancy-ish ones, anything else i own is more causal dress."

"i liked... the.. red one," he smiled.

"this one- wait a second," she moved back to hang the last two back up in her wardrobe before grabbing the deep maroon ankle length satin dress, and holding it up to her body. "is this the one, you think?"

"yeah, i like that," he nodded.

"but are you sure this mystery restaurant is this level of fancy? like i brought this to wear to a wedding, are you sure it's a dinner dress?" she babbled.

"phoenix, it's la, no one cares here, half the people have camera in their faces in public, they don't have time to worry about how you're dressed."

"okay.."

"and it gives you an excuse to wear it again."

"okay," estelle nodded once again, leaving the other couple dresses out on her bed, she moved her phone back to where it was prior.

"i'm excited to see you, and spend the weekend with you," he spoke up as she packed her dresses nicely into her suitcase. "actually speaking of.. could you text me where the train station is? i'll come pick you up."

"are you sure..?" she furrowed while reaching over and grabbing her phone, then bringing it to her face — deciding she'll pack the rest away once they finished talking. "we get in quite early.."

"how early?"

"like.. five thirty am.."

"mh.." he hummed as he thought about being awake at those hours of the day. "i'll be there."

"are you sure?" she repeated. "i know you don't wake up early.. and we're happy to just go to a cafe and have breakfast and hang out till they can check in to their hotel and you're awake.."

"no, i'll come. your friend can come here and know where you're staying and that, i know girls wants their friends to know sorta stuff so they know they're safe and such. and then we can all go back to sleep, cause no one should be awake at that time of the day."

she softly giggled at his final comment, "okay. thank you.."

"of course. it's the right thing to do," he shrugged it off. "you said the other week how you didn't do what you wanted to do last time you were in la.. what did you want to do?"

that question prompted her to babble on about all the touristy things she's was hoping to do at some point. ending up propping her phone back up and continuing to pack the few other things as they spoke for a little while longer.
