"tori," estelle hailed out to her younger sister in a sing-song way as she knocked on her bedroom door. "are you ready?"
"yes," the teen groaned, her sister opening the door and softly smiling at her as she watched the girl drag herself out of bed where she was laying on her phone with her 'outside' clothes on. "why are you so happy today?"
"because i'm allowed to be," she subtly shook her head as the other passed by her and begun strolling toward the front door of their house.
"i'm going out to the car," victoria called out through the house to their parents.
"me too," the elder copied, catching up to her sister as they got outside. "tori, could you at least pretend to be happy at lunch.. cami's bringing her boyfriend and you know how embarrassed mom and dad get when we're not being their perfect children.."
"did they tell you to talk to me?" she bluntly spoke while quickly stopping and flicking her head towards her.
"no."
"mh. if you take me to my boyfriend's later and cover for me then i will," she folded her arms, her eyes burning into estelle's.
the jenkins' parents were not a fan of their youngest daughter's drug-ridden, trouble-causing boyfriend, benjamin. and the girls were both well aware of it. hence why around their parents he's considered her ex-boyfriend.
estelle too didn't agree with his antics, but she was one to see the good in everyone. after all he did treat victoria well, and every time she would come home after seeing him she's happier than ever.
and thinking about the offer, she knew it could benefit herself slightly. she could take her book, go park her car by one of the cities numours public gardens, and read. or even maybe talk to zach, without the stress of her family possible overhearing. if he's free, that is.
".. okay, deal."
"thank you," victoria skipped around to the other side of the car with a smile across her face.
although that expression was quickly dropped from her face once she tried opening the door only to quickly realised the car was still locked — of course. pulling her phone back out whilst they waited for their parents.
estelle had done the same, and opened up zach's contact. sending him a simple ' good morning :) ', hoping even if he wasn't already awake, he would see if and be texting her by the time the jenkins' family lunch was over.
the half-hour drive to the restaurant was basically silent. just the mother and father talking and listening to the radio while their girls both had headphones connected to their phones, playing their own music.
arriving, they headed inside and straighter over to where the eldest jenkins' daughter was sat with her long term boyfriend, cameron. sharing smile, simple greetings and small hugs and handshakes before all six got situated at the table.
"how are you two going, cam-squared?" peter questioned the couple, using the nickname he uses and thinks he's hilarious for every time.
"we're doing well, dad," camille softly chuckled as she shook her head at her father, at this point not even bothering to get him to stop calling them at.
"cami's starting at her now big girl office job tomorrow," cameron mentioned, his arm across her shoulders with a smile across his face while he lovingly stared at her. "i'm so proud of her."
the way he looked at her. the way he comforted her. the way he spoke about her. the way he supported her through everything. cameron was so soft, caring, and loving when it came to camille.
estelle dreamt for what they had.
she loved everything about them. every time she saw them, in the least creepy way possible, she would watch them. imagining herself in their position, and feeling of being loved like that.
feeling her phone that she had placed in her lap vibrate, she was quickly snapped out of her daze. her eyes dropping to it as she saw a text from zach.
' mornin '
the single word making a small uncontrollable smile take over her lips. then a second message questioning if she was still going out for lunch, which prompted her to quickly type out a simple text, letting him know she was out but providing an approximate time of when she hoped they could call.
' deal '
"you look happy, stell," her elder sister smiled, causing her to look up from her phone.
"who you texting over there?" cameron laughed. one thing about him is that he loved to tease her and victoria.
"oh, courtney," she shook it off — since her parents already aware about her friend going on a date the previous night, it was a good cover. switching her phone onto do not disturb and placing it back down on her lap before being her full attention to the table. "she's telling us all about her date."
"and how did her date go?" simone, their mother, glanced to over to beside her.
"by the sounds of it, good," she answered, smiling back at her, as she explained what her friend had told them last night. "for once, she didn't find something to sabotage herself."
"that's good then.."
"when are you ever gonna go out on a date, essie?" cameron chimed in.
"i'd have to find a guy for that to happen," she awkwardly chuckled, trying to hold back at smile while glancing down to the table for a second before back at everyone. "so probably not anytime soon.."
"why don't you go out with your friends and find one then?" victoria rhetorically asked, following with a scoff, "i mean, don't you wanna fall in love like all those stupid books you read."
"mh.. yeah.."
"you're twenty, estelle, you've got all the time to find yourself a boyfriend," peter replied as he tried to dismiss the conversation, the girl softly nodding as she slightly looked two seats down to him. "and you shouldn't be talking vic, you're single too, aren't you?"
"yeah, yeah, yeah," the teen brushed it off.
