Amax yawned, and poked Ash in the side.
As his best friend groaned and opened one eye, Amax trotted over to Bescona. He budged her side with a paw, and went to Star and Sky next."If you put one paw on us, we'll rip your fur off!" Sky said, lifting his head before Amax even spoke a word. He just stared at him, with wide eyes, and stepped backwards.
"Behind that rough shell is actually a timid mouse." He grinned, hitting Sky's buttons.
"I'm sorry wh-" Sky started.
Bolie and Colaro were still asleep; half asleep, anyways.
Bolie lifted her head as Amax came near her, and jumped away to avoid his touch.
"I don't need you to wake me up." Colaro said, with his head still rested on his paws, and his eyes still closed.Amax huffed, and went to the middle of the group. Stubborn weirdos.
"Rise and shine! We have to find Millie, if anyone forgot." He shouted, feeling like he was wasting time. The others groaned and shook themselves until they were fully awake.
They stayed near a grove of tree's, close to the ravine but far away enough that the twins wouldn't notice them.
"I'm surprised Moral and Virgo are still there, in the same spot." He muttered.
He lashed his tail and lapped up some water from a puddle. When they began up again, their first stop was a river, flowing at a very quick speed. Luckily there was a fallen log halfway over. They could make the jump at the end.
Bolie looked nauseous, though.
"Whats wrong?" Amax asked her.
"I-" she looked down at her paws. "I mean. . .I don't like water, and. . .my parents never taught me how to swim." She looked embarrassed, but mostly scared.
"Don't worry, we'll help you get over." Amax promised. Bolie allowed a smile to creep through.
"When we were pups," Sky started, "our mom showed us how to do dangerous stuff. We crossed a slippery log over a slow stream for beginners, but if we fell in, it was fine! We knew how to swim." Sky boasted.
"Keep that mouth to yourself!" Bescona said with a sneer. Sky looked away from her.
Amax stepped on the log first, making sure it was safe enough to walk on. He looked back, not alarmed, but friendly.
"It's as dry as a desert rock! At this part anyway." He grinned.
He helped Bolie along, who started trembling as she grasped her claws into the wood.
She looked down nervously. Amax jumped off, leaving the bobcat to make her final leap. It shook the wood slightly, but otherwise it was completely stable.
Sky and Star made it next, then Ash and Bescona. Colaro nearly fell in as a joke, but as soon as he leapt off, his hind legs splashed into the water. He chuckled and started jumping in the shallow end. He kicked up water at the group before him, smirking."Hey!" Sky laughed, and Star groaned, water draining down from her head fur.
"We made it in time!" Bolie gasped with relief. Her fear of water could be something she could easily accomplish.
They continued walking along the river. Amax looked over at Colaro, who strangely was looking down.
"Colaro." Amax started.
The aardwolf looked at him with alarm, not used to being called out.
"I think we all need to know what you are doing here in the forest. Your species belongs in Africa, doesn't it? And that's a long way from here." Amax said carefully, hope he hadn't been misinformed about him.
