Amax made his way to the nettle patch, his heart feeling broken for the first time. He hadn't dared chase after her, he knew better then to argue with a she wolf. He felt hatred for himself boiling deep in his blood. This was his fault, but it was also Bescona's fault. This would've never have happened if Bescona had never snapped at him, triggering his nerves. But he didn't want to think about that. Bescona truly cared for him, and he truly cared for her. He didn't know if it was in a friendly way, or....

He just hadn't had the right words to bring her back. If she went home, her loss! She'd miss out on the glory of bringing Millie back. But what if she got lost, or worse, attacked from something? It'd be easy for her to find her way back. They'd gotten familiar with the forest and had left faint traces of their scent along the trail.

But I can't do this without her....

He finally reached the nettle patch, nodding his head to Ash who was keeping watch. He opened his jaws to speak, but he brushed right passed him, not in the mood to talk. He'd tell them all in the morning.

Amax had taken a long time walking back, deeply lost in his mind. The others were all resting already, their chests softly raising and falling while they waited for their friend to get better.

He was exhausted and tired of this journey.

Truthfully, the only reason I'm still going is because I sense that Millie has gone for a reason.

- Next Morning -

Amax stretched his long legs and rapidly blinked away the sleep from his eyes. Every morning he instinctually glanced at the sun, groaning each time and feeling ever so blinded. A ray of sunlight shone through the green leaves, making them look almost golden. He had been disturbed last night, he had dreamt very uncomfortably and he knew it was because of Bescona.

He looked over, alarmed to see no one was there. Except Sky, which calmed him down. He tilted his head. He was shocked on how warm it was.

He slowly walked over to Sky, feeling stiff.

"Where is everybody?" Amax asked.

"Out hunting." Sky said, not looking at him.

Amax trotted passed him, assuming the others had told him what he had said yesterday. He may as well find them. He tasted the air again, this time, smelling elk. He got down low, and followed the scent, his belly fur touching the ground. He forgot- he had to tell them about Bescona.

He caught a glimpse of short brown fur and tall antlers. Amax leaped, keeping his muscles tense, and his body straightened. The elk finally caught his scent and started sprinting away. He landed on his feet and he started sprinting after it.

When will you learn that hunting elk is for a pack, you idiot wolf!  He scolded himself.

His about-to-be food ran into the bushes, and its scent faded. Amax grunted, his ears twitching. He wasn't too upset about his loss, he doubted he'd of been able to take it down all by himself anyway.

He quietly walked away, pricking his ears. He sighted a small animal in a bunch of ferns. He didn't normally hunt smaller prey, but he was due for a lazy hunt.

As he looked close, he thought the rabbit was sleeping. Its black ears were back flat, its chest softly raising and falling.
But no, it wasn't sleeping, it was just gently nibbling on thin blades of grass at the base of a tall, slender tree.

He crept forward, treading lightly. He waited, and waited, then finally pushed himself out of the wait, launching strongly off of his hind legs. He was so close that his jaws nearly wrapped around the neck of the rabbit, but one moment too late, it sprinted into the bushes.
