Star followed behind Amax, with Sky falling a bit farther behind. Amax had never felt more exhausted in his life. He felt pretty darn frustrated, to say the least. He picked up the pace, forgetting about the others, and the slower ones.

"Amax, wait!"
Amax ignored the tired yelp of Ash, and kept on going, leaving the others behind, until he fell to the ground, panting. Amax looked back at his friend briefly, before strutting forward again.

He felt a glow inside himself, his heart started to beat faster. Would he catch her in time?

As he rounded the corner, he nearly fainted in surprise.

There she was, Millie, standing right before him beside a tall, slender oak tree. He didn't move, afraid he'd scare her away. What was she doing? She was staring straight up at the sky, her head tilted back. She was muttering something, but it was inaudible too Amax. He slowly stepped forward, his eyes wild and his heart thumping so loudly against his chest he was convinced she could hear it. As he came closer, he also became within earshot.

"Not my fault, not my fault." She mumbled.

"What's not your fault?" He blurted out.

What the heck, Amax, what the actual heck!

She looked up, startled. There was little chance she'd recognize him, he was very small when she had gone missing. But she didn't move. Finally, they could take her home!

"Amax, is that you?" She whispered.

"Yes, Millie, you need to come home now! Why did you leave?" He said, a million questions buzzing through his head.

"No, not now, I'm not ready." She said so softly he barely made out what she said. "I-I can't go back, they need me." She growled, her eyes wild with trauma. "And you're not ready to go back, either!"  She turned and sprinted through the bushes and disappearing from sight.

So that was it, was it? She couldn't go back yet? They couldn't go back yet? They were out here for a reason. Or, she was out here for a reason.

"Millie, wait!" He stumbled over his paws and tripped. His face splashed in a water puddle as he hit the ground hard. Rain began to pour down, pouring across the fields, across the animals, across everywhere. The others finally caught up, but dropped down, groaning. Sky was the last to catch up, his belly's wound opening up, and blood dripping out.

"I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry." Amax muttered to no one in particular, burying his face in his paws.
They all looked at each other, angry and upset.

"Millie was here, she said- she said she can't go back home yet." He cried out, confused. "That it wasn't her fault. That they...someone, I don't know...they need her. And we can't go back yet."

Marcus glared at Amax and went to go clear Sky's blood. Star looked around, her fur on end.

"Forget Millie for now, are you ok?" Ash whispered, licking the water from Amax's chin. He just grunted in response.

"We were so close. . ." Sky said, feeling sick. Amax nodded.

"Face it, we'll never get her back! Were just getting-"

"Further and further away," Amax sighed, finishing Colaro's sentence.

Bolie huffed and scraped at a piece of wood. "What does that mean, she can't go home?" She spoke aloud.

"What is the matter with you lately?" Star asked. "Forget this Millie stuff, something else is going on, I know it."

"I. . .don't know." Amax lied.
